Digital Voice Recorder KAYOWINE 16GB Professional Noise Reduction HD Sound Multi-Function Audio Recorder with Headphone and OLED Screen for lectures, Meetings, interviews

I've been using my mobile phone to record voice notes for quite a while, but having recently needed to record quite a few notes, I've ended up using up too much of my phones memory than I'd really like to. So I decided to look for a dedicated voice recorder. Long gone are the days where dictaphones use little cassettes, it's now all digital recording.On searching Amazon, I found this recorder. I wasn't looking for a really expensive one and feature-wise this had all I wanted. So I ordered and delivery was quick as it was Prime eligible. The box presentation may need a bit of work as it doesn't scream quality, but then it's the contents of the box that is more important I suppose.In the box is the recorder, a micro usb charging cable, earphones and a weird card showing a winter castle scene and on the reverse is something in German. If you are selling on Amazon UK, wouldn't it be a good idea to have an English translation on this card?The first plus with this recorder is that it has an integrated battery, so no need to stock up on batteries. It already had a decent charge in it on delivery so you are able to use it straight away. Initial impressions were that the design looks dated, especially as the shell is a moderately heavy metal. However, I would say that is a plus. This looks like a recorder that will last a long time - it's not made of plastic that will break quickly - it was built to last.Turning the recorder on is a simple press of the play/pause button and start up is quick. You can record your voice memos in either WAV or MP3, with the MP3 format having a choice of quality settings - the lower the resolution you choose the more you can get on the recorder. With it having a 16GB memory, you can get a lot on the recorder. An example is when using MP3 at 128kbps it can hold 293 hours of recordings.To record, you just press the record button. It does take a few seconds to start recording and there is a red LED indicator to let you know that it is starting to record. With the test recordings that I have done, it records really well. The two microphones on the top are multi-directional and there are options for noise reduction. I was able to place the recorder down and move around my room and it still picked up my voice with ease.You also have the option to use this as an MP3 player. Quality of the playback is ok, but I don't think this is an option that I will use as I have other dedicated MP3 players or my phone for music playback.All in all, I'm happy with the purchase and I think anyone looking for a cheap, but good functioning and long lasting recorder won't be disappointed if you bought this recorder. I did not expect this to perform beyond it's price tag. However, it has done exactly what it was supposed to do: audio recording of my interviews and group sessions. It has good battery life and and can record from an appreciable distance (in a quiet environment, else it picks up background noise as well.). Recording in either MP3 or WAV formats, i have only WAV which is the default. The quality is not terrible, but can be better in terms of eliminating background noise. You can easily transfer recordings to a computer for further analysis using the included USB cable.downside: sometimes it can start playing a audio file while in your bag or pocket because the 'on' was unintentionally pressed. This has happened to me on more than one occasion.It also looks a bit fragile and may require extra care, or a protective case.it's button operations are not the best, but you can get used to them, so, not an issue for me.

Using this to record counselling sessions with. Very good sound, especially when listened back over earphones - can even hear words spoken under one's breath. This is my first machine, so not sure how it compares to others, but the 16GB memory combined with the solid build, the 3 microphones and the positive feedback, made this a no-brainer. Sadly the way the settings menu works is not intuitive at all, and I keep coming out of it when I don't mean to (e.g., up & down on menu uses backward and forward buttons on recorder. Hopefully the next version will use a more intuitive way to navigate the menu.

A brilliant little recorder. Sound quality is superb with plenty of volume. Record picks up the faintest sound - Very, very good. Controls a little fiddly for my big hands but very easy to use. large LCD display. Overall a superb buy - well worth every penny. After sales help remarkable. This recorder by Kayowine is far superior and is built to last. It's metal body is slick and solid - feels real quality as soon as you handle it. The functions are clear and precise and do not 'clunk' on the recordings. Picks up the faintest of sounds and replays at a wonderful level on playback. The display is large and shows record levels and all the info you may need - ditto on playback. The MP3 player is loud and crisp - wonderful. In the unlikely event of problems then Kayoline have an immediate response service. Can't be beaten. 6 Stars . Highly recommended.

This recorder works quite well for recording voice. Not so good for other sounds. But the main problem is that the screen is very fragile, brittle glass. Unlike the screen of a mobile phone, a small knock and it breaks. I dropped mine about one metre onto a wooden floor, it didn't land on the screen, but as you see in the photo it shattered.

Does everything it needs to - good productwould buy again - product is really easy to use and functions really quite well for its tiny size and low price tagthe built in speaker is a bit rubbish, but other than that good product

Good product well built, the only drawback is that when not in use (not when recording) it does turn off pretty quickly, aspect which I find it annoying

the best Dictaphone i've ever had. the audio is clear and the folders all save nicely and easily onto my computer, sorting them in date and time order - it allows me to rename the recordings so that i can associate them easily. the charge holds for days, with hours of use. its brilliant - don't know what id do without it now. i record all my lectures.
