Works as expected
We bought this at the end of last summer and living in Georgia, we can use this all year long (or almost). I am very satisfied with this buy. It works as supposed to, easy to use, not to heavy that I can use it without the help of my husband. We also have a snapper mower and we are using the same battery between them. Very sturdy, I recommend this.

Nice not to have to wind an electrical cord up
We bought this weed eater and the Snapper blower in conjunction with the Snapper mower. The mower comes with (2) batteries that recharge within 30 minutes, with a run time of 30 minutes. So, you can forever run your equipment? With the batteries that the mower provides we could then wait for a sale, ultimately we purchased this weed eater for $128 American dollars at the time and this was before they raised the price...This 82v weed eater is huge compared to the grass hog we had. The strap that comes with it is much needed. Quiet, powerful, and time efficient, it's all that. The angle is what is needed to get used too. The weight is on the opposite end compared to the grass hog.Overall, this along with (2) extra batteries are well worth the price depending on how you purchase it.

Strong and dependable but heavy !
This works great and gets the job done. I put purchased a Battery power Snapper mower that came with a charger and two batteries that also work with this weed eater... The only downside is the weight of the unit with batteries. I'm 74 and enjoy using this weed eater... I just have to pace myself... I find that it works better with smooth 0.80 line versus 0.90... The smaller line feeds better for tap and go...

Nice addition to go with my mower.
To be honest I bought this more for the additional battery and charger so I'd have adequate charge to mow my entire (somewhat large) lot without needing to wait 15 minutes for a battery to finish charging. That said, this is a darn nice weed eater. It's design let's you have either a 12 or 14 inch cut and the comprehensive instruction manual includes both configurations. As a test and to impress life skills I had my one perienced son assemble it and he had zero problems. The 72v provides plenty of oomph for even the thickest grass that chokes my drainage in the wet weeks of late spring. It's bulkier than our previous electric weed-eater but on par with the conventional one. Battery life is sufficient for our needs but if you have more than 25 minutes of thick grass to fight through, you'll likely run out.The flexibility of attachments are nice as well. I bought the pole saw a nd extra length to prune my trees without having to fight with cordsAll in all, changing between ends is easy as pie and I'm extremely pleased with my purchase.

Works great for my needs
Works well for my smallish suburban yard. Does what it says: Trims around the trees and around edging. Knocks down grasses at the fence-line and along the driveway. And does it all on a single charge. I've yet to run out of charge, even after swapping the battery over to my hedge trimmer to touch up the bushes. If you run a lawn service, or have a huge yard, or your heavy weed needs require the power of a brush hog, maybe you should look elsewhere (or at least get an extra battery). But that's not me.The only con is that it's a little heavy in comparison to a similarly capable gas trimmer. But I prefer that to the hassle of mixing, storing and pouring small-engine fuel, and to battling the pull-start. And I don't smell like small-engine exhaust when I'm done. All-in-all, I'm quite happy with it.

Heavy and Unbalanced
I've had this tool for 2+ yrs now and while it works well and still going strong, I find the heavy battery on the end makes it hard to manage. Not sure what it weighs but after about 15 mins I start to feel the strain on my back. Maybe a younger guy would be fine with it but at 60+ yrs it's a bit taxing. Otherwise no complaints with it.

Never going back to gas!
I bought this at the same time I bought the mower, and couldn't be happier with the both of them. I had many concerns before buying:Is the build quality decent? Will the equipment have the power I need? Will the batteries last long enough to do my yard? Will I have to buy new batteries?I'm happy to say that most of my concerns were alleviated after doing my yard the first few months this season. The equipment is well made; it's actually more powerful than my gas-powered Toro mower and Stihl trimmer; and the two batteries provided with my mower are more than enough to get the job done. I don't yet know how long it will be before the batteries crap out on me, but as long as I can get 2-3 seasons out of them I'll be happy. The overall experience is so much better than using the gas-powered stuff that I'll never go back. The string trimmer weighs about the same as my gas Stihl, when the battery is installed. The housing for the motor is plastic, but then again so is the housing on the Stihl. The shaft and the gearbox are metal. It has two manually-selectable speeds. I'm not sure why I would ever need the faster speed, and have never used it other than to test it out. I guess it might be useful if you're clearing a lot of heavy brush.I like the fact that the motor will take different attachments. I bought the cultivator (tiller) attachment but haven't used it yet. It is also well-made and is metal where it counts.Overall I am extremely happy with the Snapper 82V gear. Highly recommend it.
