I think these would be ok for cutting thin wire, however I'm not sure how long they would stay sharp for.

I purchased these to cut bicycle gear and brake cables and the outer sheaf. They work perfectly for this purpose giving a nice clean square cut.
They probably would cut wire fencing, but I would suspect it would be hard work and they may not stay sharp for very long.
