Makes great raw cat food!
For the size and cost (I got it on a lighting deal), this grinder does what I need. We've made about 60 pounds of raw cat food in four sessions with this unit. Using the smallest die, it makes its way through chicken bone, necks, thigh meat, and offal with no problems. However, there are several key techniques you should know before grinding to make this work.First, the meat has to be almost frozen. This keeps the meat from warming up too much as it's being ground, which is kind of a soupy mess. The result is cold, but is a lot easier to work with. I also put the hopper and throat in the freezer for at least 20 minutes before grinding.Second, you need to cut the almost-frozen thigh bones into two or more pieces just before grinding. I've found it has pretty much no trouble with 2.5 inch or smaller bones. Any longer than that and it will start bogging down significantly. Cutting the chicken perpendicular to the bone also allows it to slide down the throat lengthwise, making it easier to be grabbed by the grinder. I bought a decent but cheap cleaver that does the job.So no matter what you're grinding, make sure it's small enough to fit down the throat easily and almost frozen before grinding.

Grinds Fast & Efficiently
So far- so good. I've used it once and it worked GREAT! I make raw dog food for four dogs. I buy chicken thighs, drumsticks and veggies, whack them into pieces with a heavy cleaver then grind it bones and all. I had been using my Kitchen-Aid mixer but it was straining. This has a larger opening than my mixer and it would grind as fast as I could push it in! I does say "don't grind bones" in the book, so there's that.

Impressive and Strong
We were going to purchase a grinder for our stand mixer and in reading reviews we had concerns about the plastic so searched and came across this one. We were certainly impressed from the moment we opened the carton.Assembly and cleaning were easy. Much easier than we imagined. We cleaned the machine and got to work and made ten pounds of Italian sausage like pros.I highly recommend this machine. The motor is strong and it certainly does the job. We're excited to continue to make homemade sausage with all the yummy ingredients that we love.

Strong grinder
This grinder works as described. Parts fit nicely and it is easy to assemble and disassemble. That said, HAND WASH ONLY.I appreciate the company listening to my concerns about the importance of not putting the parts in the dishwasher. This grinder has a string motor and males quick work of turning whole parts into ground meat saving time and money.

I'm happy with this model
For a home product (not industrial), this is better than others I've used. It has a slightly larger chute/intake, and some parts are stainless steel. The manual is barebones, and did not tell me where the reset button was (on back of machine, not bottom). It worked very well on the chicken necks I use for dog food. Front cap tended to tighten itself up, so don't over tighten when you start.

I did make sausage with it and it worked like a charm
Considering I am grinding bones, this grinder is handling it for it’s power. I do smash the chicken joint bones before I put them in the grinder, otherwise they won’t make it through. My two complaints are it is difficult to clean down inside the grinder without really scrubbing with a bottle brush, even if I soak it in hot soapy water. Additionally, you need to spray some Pam where you tighten in the fitting that holds the grinding plates, otherwise you will have difficulty getting that stinker off! I use this primarily for grinding chicken for my cat and dog foods. I did make sausage with it and it worked like a charm.
