This cooler actually cools! And the seller is top-notch.
I bought this cooler to use in a vehicle on long trips and for camping, hoping that the chilling capability would keep food fresh without ice longer (indefinitely if the power is on) and make life easier. Mission accomplished! We took a week-long road trip with the cooler packed at the start and no ice. Most of the time it was riding in the back of an SUV plugged into the 12V cigarette lighter style power plug that is only on when the vehicle is running, so it was off when in parking lots etc. At each stop everything inside was icy cold. Not frozen, but cold. And when we went into the cooler after a day of activities outside the car with the chiller not running, it was still cold. So the insulation quality of this cooler is also excellent. We never detected noise while driving -- it's quiet enough to be inconsequential when there is normal road/wind noise in a car. We took it into a hotel room a couple nights and plugged it into the 120V. You could hear it if you specifically listened, but my whole family paid no attention to it. In fact the noise it does make is a calm 'whooshing' sound, much like artificial white noise generators some people use to help them sleep. It's a gentle background noise, not a nuisance at all. The designers of this cooler did a good job selecting a fan and air path that does not rattle, buzz, vibrate, or otherwise make noise that penetrates your mind. Some other reviews mention water. People need to understand that when you take a mass of warm, moist air and reduce its temperature, the water in it will condense into liquid. So if you're in a moist environment and first turn it on, expect some drops of water. After the mass of air sealed inside the cooler has chilled, there is no more water to condense - Those first few drops are the end of it. Now, if you don't seal your lid (such as if you over-stuff the cooler) then you'll have outside air circulating through the chiller and condensing... a continuous source of moisture. Over time this could cause quite an accumulation of liquid water condensing in your cooler, not to mention it won't be cold. If this happens to you, you are the problem. There is nothing wrong with this design - It's just physics. So close your lid tightly and you'll be fine. Finally, this is a great seller. At the end of our trip we had a problem with one wheel. I contacted the seller - they communicated quickly and completely and helped me resolve the problem quickly. I would buy from them again for sure and recommend others trust them also.

So far, so good!
I bought this model to replace a Coleman car refrigerator that served me well for 10 years, then died on the second day of a weeklong vacation. After a few days of use, I am quite happy with it.Having car and wall outlet power cables saves me from having to know where I have placed the adapter that lets me use the Coleman unit indoors. This is a nice bonus. The fact there is a cable management area inside the lid is also a nice step up. The only downside is that the car cable is shorter than on my Coleman--but I have an extender cable, so this shouldn't be an issue.I am happy it will cool as well as warm the contents. I have not used the warming function yet, but it is good to know that flexibility is there if I need it.The wheels are also a step up from the Coleman. Plus, the inside dimensions are slightly larger. This is accentuated by the fact the Coleman had its refrigeration unit on a side wall, which took up an unfortunately large amount of space. The refrigeration unit being in the lid on this model solves that problem. It also does not protrude far into the unit. The larger size and the different orientation of the refrigeration mechanism will allow this one to hold a good bit more than the Coleman did. The latching mechanism for the lid will also ensure a tight fit for the seals. However, when the unit is empty, it does make it slightly more difficult to open to put items into it. The entire unit wants to come up as I try to pull the lid open. This unit is a little bit louder than the Coleman, but not unpleasantly so. It doesn't sound like there's a fighter jet trying to take off in my backseat, so I'm okay with it. With the Coleman, I sometimes had to turn off the car's air conditioning and stereo to be able to hear the fan, to know I had plugged it in properly. I'm not sure yet, whether this will be an issue with this unit.Performance-wise, I was rather pleased with how quickly the inside cooled off. The Coleman seemed to take forever. This one is not absolutely super speedy, nor is it designed to be. It will suffice to say it has performed very well.I have not yet done a benchmark test to see if it does maintain 40 degrees Fahrenheit. However, I have a thermometer and hydrometer I am going to pull out of one of my humidors to test that. Overall, the temperature level inside did seem to be quite adequate.
