Plus-Sized Elf Vol. 1

I bought this completely blind with only one expectation: that it was going to be a monster girl comedy manga with plenty of ecchi (and work out routines.. maybe?), and i wasn't wrong, however the writing in this manga is really bland and if you've delved into just ecchi manga on it's own before, or monster girl manga, i can guarantee you right away that you've already read this and you're not missing anything, it's a massive shame too because a lot of the art is very well drawn and clearly a lot of effort was put in, maybe some of the comedy is lost in translation or something as i laughed pretty much once during my read, or it could be that my sense of humor has matured over time, in either case.. if this is your first time delving into this genre of manga then it's probably going to be a refreshing take, but for everyone else this is a hard skip, although having said that. A sense of humor is a subjective thing and if you STILL want to buy it and burn some money, then hey it's up to you.

So it’s a little more sleazy than I was expecting, with a sauna episode where most of the female characters are wholly naked with very token censorship, but it’s funny as hell and actually has real weight loss and exercise advice sprinkled in. My wife enjoyed it as well (despite the heavy male gaze aspects) and was laughing out loud and read ahead of me! I’m especially enjoying the exploration of some Japanese folklore elements and the Japanese take on some Western folklore creatures.
