K-ON! College (K-ON!, 5) Paperback – August 4, 2015

I decided to jot down some thoughts on the final two volumes of the *K-On!* manga series. Given their titles, the focus they have are obvious. One is the story of Azusa with fellow third-years Ui and Jun, struggling to keep the pop music club afloat as they prepare to graduate high school. The other is the story of the beginning of the college career of Azusa's sempais, Yui, Mio, Mugi, and Ritsu.Like with volume four of the regular manga preceding these two editions, these volumes were incredibly bitter-sweet for me to read. The series was over, and I couldn't spend more time in these characters' lives after I had come to care about them, and this was worse in *High School*, as we don't know for sure the ultimate destinations for college of the three new sempais. Both manga ended at a mid-point of the year time frame, and so little is naturally known.Part of me wonders if the mangaka, nicknamed "Kakifly", was still unsure if he wanted to continue the series or not. *College* and *High School* were just so open-ended, that it is a strong possibility that he was open to continuing, but changed his mind.Despite the feelings of melancholy I had while ending the story, the two volumes were fun and introduced some great new characters. In *High School*, we meet a composer who can't play well, but is brilliant at theory, in Nao, and a household servant and friend of Mugi's, Sumire, who displays rapid aptitude (though not to the ridiculous extent of Yui on the guitar) for the drums. Together with Azusa, Ui, and Jun, they eventually form a successful band for the one year they are all together at school.In *College*, we have several new characters, as the setting is bigger and so more folks would naturally show up in real life. Instead of being the same character types as the "Afternoon Tea Time" girls (Yui, Mio, Mugi, and Ritsu) they are a mix of different traits and such. In other words, no one girl is cut from the same cloth as one of our main heroines, but they each have some aspects that more than one of the main four might see themselves in.These characters include the other members of the college "Light Music Club". First we have Akira who is rough around the edges (or likes to pretend to be so) a bit, but a good person and (much to her "stated" but perhaps not real chagrin) a favorite new pal of Yui's. Then we have her two bandmates in their group, "The Girlz", Sachi, who is similar to Mio in terms of height and self-consciousness of it, but is much more socially-adept, and Ayame, who is similar in many ways to both Mio and Ritsu. She has the latter's personality to some extent, but also the former's no-nonsense attitude and willingness to keep her friends in line. Rounding these pop music club members are the last two we see. First we have the club president, Kana, who manages the club in a similar manner as Ritsu did as president of the high school one, but slightly more responsibly. Finally, there's a funny girl with little visible emotion, Chiyo, who still is charming and sweet underneath her flat expressions.All of these new characters are amusing, sweet, cute and endearing. I wish we could get to know them more. I realize, however, that this won't happen, outside imagination. I'm pretty okay with that, because just like the previous four volumes, these last two brought me genuine joy to read. I enjoyed them and truly, though with some warning on the bittersweet feeling of knowing the series is ending as you read them, Highly Recommend these.Ratings:*K-On! College* - 4.5/5 Stars*K-On! A VERY good manga that left me sad. Not due to some tragic story, but with the knowledge that there is only one more volume before it all ends. Having watched the series 6 times, the movie 5, and read the mangas a whopping 9 times, this is officially my favorite, and marks the first time I have truly become devoted to an IP long after completing it's arc.The four seniors are freshman again, only this time at a prestigious all-girls college. Without Ui, how will Yui ever get up in time for classes? Will the pressures of cramming all your classes into just three days cripple Ritsu? Will Mio find a new friend, or become a creepy stalker? Will Mugi every stop being so darned cute? To answer all these (Though the answer to the last is NO) please pick up this volume today. You too will feel the sadness of such a great franchise finally coming to a close...Hoping for Season Three!

I discovered this the same time I found out about High School. However this focuses on the main group as they have graduated and moved to college together. The jokes are still funny as they meet a new group. It's really feels like the fun can just go on. If you are a fan to see what comes after the series I highly recommend getting this.

Decent quality print, good if you’re looking for collecting the physical edition. I’d recommend reading the K-On High School manga AFTER this one, as I found the conclusion to be rather lacking. The physical book itself is decent thougn

This and K-On! Highschool are going to be the basis for the next season of K-On! so you might as well buy it so that you arent just stuck with the first 4 volumes of K-On!Azusa isn't in this manga at all, but they introduce 3 girls. A tsundere who tries to act butch but everyone knows she's really a femme. There's also a new girl who is essentially a Ritsu clone. Her behavior almost exactly mimics Ritsu's in every way imaginable. Finally, there's a tall girl who is very cool and collected(like mio) except she has a complex about being tall.if you aren't an anime snob then you'll like it. If you ARE an anime snob, then you obviously arent a very good one since you're looking at K-On! products, you self-conscious fuccboi.

The girls are back, and in college. Yui,Ritsu,Mio and Mugi are all grown up and studying at a University. They face reality when they can't do the things they used to in high school like...having tea...all the time. In fact, I was surprised, not a single teacup in sight. It pleases me because it invites legitimate character development. I also like the new addition of the 3 new characters from Only Girlz. I'm looking foreward to an anime adaptation as well as the next upcoming manga K-ON! High School.

I've had a taste of their College life and Now I want more, my god I got so emotional reading the entire manga version of the series I am just so fond of the characters I grew so attached to them I've felt like I was apart of it all. such a wonderful series :)

I love K-ON! I watched it about two years ago, and was disappointed there wasn't going to be a third season. When I heard of this manga, I immediately ordered it. It arrived on time in perfect condition. After reading it, I was just amazed!!!

If you like the K-On! anime, you may like the manga as well. Not a very long series to collect to boot!

It's pretty good

Pour ceux qui ont cru comme moi que K-ON College désignait la classe de 6è jusqu'au 3è, eh ben en faite c'était la suite à l'université. Le manga est en anglais par contre.

This book was a gift for my 14 year old daughter who is very much in to Japanese culture. She think it is a funny snap shot of college life for girls in Japan.

Could have been so much better, but enjoyable none the less
