This is the Real Deal
After having 3 Magellan Road Mates fail me within a 2 yr span, I decided to "take a chance" on this GPS. To say that I am pleased with it's performance is an understatement ! This unit is like no other auto/truck GPS, which takes a little getting used to, because it acts more like a mini computer (with it's touch screen speed) than a plodding typical GPS. The User material is sparse and doesn't fully explain how to operate the devise, so be prepared to experiment. But once you get the "hang of it" it's a breeze. The 7" display is amazing and if mounted on a Bean bag dash pad, you can rotate it for maximum visibility regardless of the sun or you can rely solely on the verbal directions (which can given by male or female in any number of languages). I'm not saying it's perfect as it takes a few steps to do some things, but it's so fast it shouldn't bother you once you work with it. Take a chance on it, for the price it can't be beat.

Not User Friendly
I used this GPS for the first time this weekend to travel to Boston. It was a two hour drive, and the GPS got me from one point to the next but not without some difficulty. The first issue that I didn't like was that the stand used to secure it to the windshield was not secure. I tightened the knob at the top but that didn't help much because the screen kept swiveling from side to side, it kept sliding towards the passenger side. Which doesn't help much if your driving and can't see the screen. My next issue was with the glare on the GPS screen which also made it harder to see, they provide a visor however the visor was too small to fit around the GPS so it wasn't of much use. Another issue comes when driving through a tunnel, the GPS loses signal and it doesn't always recalculate the route. It either takes a while for it to start giving direction again, or it doesn't come back on again so then your forced to reset it by hand (this is an issue if you are driving and can't pull over right away). The next is a minor but annoying issue, instead of saying east the GPS will say "EB", for example instead of saying "take 84 EAST", it will say "take 84 EB", I'm assuming this means east bound (maybe). Similarly if heading west it will say "SB". On the drive back I got the screen to stop swiveling from side to side, but the light from the screen reflects off the windshield at night which is a bit distracting. Again the visor is too small for the GPS, if the correct size had been provided it would have helped with this issue. All in all it did the job of getting me to my destination, however there were a lot of small issues that just made it annoying to operate, and made for an uncomfortable ride trying to adjust it every few minutes. I won't really recommend this and I will most likely returning the device.

Getting There
I purchased this GPS mainly for my wife and son to use and the relative cost compared to other solutions. It is made by mediatek and has a number of functional capabilities in addition to navigation. The UI is not intuitive past the first screen and sometimes is quirky but it serves its purpose. The 7" screen has a relatively low resolution (looks like 800x600) but screens change without issues. There are a set of maps installed on the ROM but for future downloads/updates you need sim card storage although maximum storage is not identified in the enclosed documentation. The GPS also comes with a kick stand as well as a suction mechanism for the windshield which works fairly well. I found this to be a cost-effective and functional method of providing the family with GPS.

Great GPS unit that has clear picture with accurate directions
This is a great GPS unit. Great picture great price. Seems to be up to date with maps. I use this in an older car with no GPS so I dont use my phone. New laws :) I would recommend you purchase this unit if you need this type of device.

Doesn't work
First time I used it, it worked. After that, it was totally inaccurate. Tried to send me way off course.

Junk GPS
Not easy to use. I could get it to see up. My teenage son couldn't even figure it out. Very irritating. I bought it for vacation. Plus needs some type of sd card you can't find any where just to download the maps for USA which isn't downloaded I forgot to send it back after vacation. It's to late now. I figured it would work and bought it a month before vacation and tired setting up before we left thinking it would be easy to use. Nope. Not very happy lost about $80 on it.

No time set and destination time incorrect!
I wish I could give this a lower score than one star. The GPS Navigation system has not functioned correctly at all. I have tried numerous times to set the time for my area, to no avail. Also when I entered a destination that I knew was close, less than 10 minutes to reach, the GPS displayed that I would reach it in two hours. I am not sure if I just received a faulty product but I would not recommend this device to anyone.
