100% Organic Cacao Powder by Tisano

From the description, I was expecting a noticeable reddish tinge to the cacao power, which it did not have. The powder was a bit lighter than some other brands I've had though, and it is far more aromatic compared to others. It has a very rich and creamy smell. I tasted a little bit of it plain, and it had very little bitterness to it. So far, I have only used it in smoothies and it had a great flavor. Cant wait to use it for other things.Would buy this again, but I wish the shipping was faster!

Powder is good. Makes good brownies. I'm not doing somersaults about how wonderful this stuff is, it's good. No more, no less. There was cacao all over the outside of the package - not good.

I don't like how gritty this is, but the flavor is good. I don't think I would buy it again.

I make a hot drink with it and some chocolate Stevia. It is very gritty. Almost feels like very fine sand as you near the bottom of the mug.

really great cacao powder. the zip top bag keeps it fresh. smooth texture with a rich flavor. works great in recipies

UPDATE 2013: CONSUMER ALERT! This is no longer cacao powder made from 100% Criollo chocolate bean from Venezuela. The most recent pkg i ordered did not taste at all like the first batches i tasted in 2011-12 that led me to write my previous glowing 5 star review in 2012. Instead, this 2013 batch had an unpleasant "green plant" / grass-like taste instead of the low-acid, very rich chocolate taste of the first batches i ordered & tasted in 2011-12. And it also now gave me acidic after effects. I was very puzzled--didnt taste like the same product at all. So i went to their website to see if they'd switched to a different choc bean instead of the "VENEZUELAN 100% CRIOLLO" their website proudly tells you they pioneered. Yep--now if you look on their website under "Additional information" for the cacao powder, it says: "single country origin CENTRAL PERU - BLEND of Criollo & TRINITARIO VARIETALS"! So they're now using an entirely different bean source & NO LONGER THE 100% CRIOLLO considered to be the best quality & least acidic cacao! What a disappointment & how misleading for the customer. They've lost my business--i feel ripped off after paying top price for what i assumed was still the top quality, 100% Criollo cacao from Venezuela that originally set them apart from many other companies & was the reason i originally gave them top rating & became a repeat customer. As a result, I've deleted my original glowing review because they no longer make the product I originally reviewed.

This is my second time purchasing cacao powder, and I decided to go with Tisano. The biggest difference I noticed was this actually smelled like raw cocoa unlike the other brand which smelled heavily of fermentation. The taste was delicious in my smoothies after I got the portions correct. From what I can tell this is a very solid product.Hopefully they can continue to offer Prime shipping in the future.

I really love Tisano organic cacao powder. After searching thru different product reviews and descriptions, I've chosen this one and like it a lot! I add a spoonfull of it to my morning cup of coffee. It smells great, tastes very rich and chocolaty, has a delicious and smooth flavor. I'm a chocoholic, and can tell a good cacao product from great. Highly recommend it. I'm ordering another pack right now. Enjoy!!
