very informative
I purchased this book because I have two grandchildren with typw 1 diabetes. It is written expressly for children and they are able to understand it. The drawings and language are directed at them so they can feel involved. I think it is a very well thought out and written book. I highly recommend it for anyone who knows or has a child with this disease.

Good book for newly diagnosed children.
We bought this book for my friend's 6 year old daughter who was newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes over the summer. My friend reports that this book was helpful to her child and she looked through the book several times. I also read it and found it to be helpful for newly diagnosed children. I worked as a medical social worker in pediatrics for 10 years. One of my assigned services was the Pediatric endocrine team. I wish we had access to these kinds of books for newly diagnosed children and their families.

Perfect for a 7-yr old newly diagnosed
My great-niece is 7-years old and just diagnosed. This book is perfect for her to be able to understand more about how to live with Type I diabetes. The drawings are perfect and the writing is just enough information for a young child getting started with this disease.

Very Helpful for a young child.
My granddaughter had been recently diagnosed with T1D. She related to the charter and began to understand that there were other kids like her going though the same thing. She wants to read it often and shared it with her 4 K class. Thank you for sharing your story.

So Simple
When I first saw it, I thought it was just too simple, but after some thought, I felt it was perfect as the 1st book to explain diabetes to a 4 yr. old. Let's keeping hoping for more research and a cure.

Nice wee book
Nice wee book. My 6 year old recently diagnosed read it no longer than 5 minutes as her reading is abit more advanced, child friendly words to help her understand her condition. Not a hard back, very floppy.

Wonderful book!
This is an amazing book for younger children (ages 6-7 and under)! The language was appropriate and really help young children understand what's happening to their bodies and why they have to take insulin, get their glucose levels checked so often, and eat a certain way. Highly recommend!

Disturbing!!
What it doesn’t tell you is that the first half of the book is written in olde worlde English. Very difficult to read, let alone understand & tells several very dark & disturbing so called legends or fairytales from a Russian author!!. Wicked stepmothers, witches that eat children, skulls on sticks, fences made of human bones, lots of gruesome gory goings on!!The second part is the actual story of a child diagnosed & living with diabetes. Very short & to the point, minimal detail!!Not recommended at all. My 3 year old newly diagnosed granddaughter would be having nightmares. This book has mistakenly been made combining 2 books into one. The cover is I have diabetes, but the first half of the book is “Vasalisa the beautiful & Baba Yaga” by an ancient Russian author, the second half of the book is “I have diabetes”. How it came combined as one book is beyond me!! Returned immediately for replacement.
