I'm 49. Can but don't want to spend 5k to 7k on hearing aids. I have moderate to severe upper range hearing loss in both ears, and borderline hearin loss below the upper range in. Both ears. I've been resistant to buying any hearing aid or amplifier because of the stigma in business and being single (even with terrific girlfriend 19 years younger). After buying three other amplifiers and returning them or throwing them away, I bought these for 9.99.PROS - people facing you face to face or from side they are invisible or nearly soThey have adjustable volume which allows for some background noise to disappearThey are inexpensive and so a great entry to the first timer like meOverall they provide a dramtic improvement in hearingI speak noticeably softer because I can now hear myself. Otherwise I talk too loudly which annoys my friends, family and colleagues. I don't know that I'm speaking too loudly 95% of the time, but with this in I'm back to my normal voice.My GF doesn't seem to mind it.CONSEVERYTHING is amplified so voices don't stand out particularly from tv. Haven't tried moviesIt is noticeable from the back unless your hair covers it.There might be better ones on the market but the next price point is either $80 per ear or $300 to $350 per ear. And I see the same complaints I see with this one. Or one the sound hawk looks like a Bluetooth phone accessory which makes you look stupid if you wear it all the time and with that one you need an accompanying microphone to place on the table or somewhere to get full benefit of it. I would probably try the sound hawk next. But I'd return it if it isn't signficantly better than this one. I ordered 3 more of these at $7.99 and a fourth for my brother to try. My brother will be interesting becuase he needs one but hasn't tried it yet becuase of vanity. Kind of like me.

Works as well or better than another product that was bigger and cost three times as much. It's very light and hardly noticeable. I like the thin tube. It was quite stiff to open the battery slider or use the on/off but I cured that by rubbing a little soap on the edges. Anyone hard of hearing should try this cheap "sound amplifier" alternative to the 1000+ dollar "hearing aids". My wife tried it and liked it also.

I am not in the budget level to ever do the $ thousands-range hearing aids. But I have used aids costing $350 or so. These are not quite as good.. but waaaaay cheaper... and my budget does not allow different right now. I found that the post that holds the battery case closed can break easily.. so I have had to re-order a couple of times... but I can afford that and now I am going to go gently with pushing that closed.I think the batteries wear out faster.. but, again... i can afford new ones.Like other reviewers, I would love it if these came with a way to filter out some background noise.. but for the price.. with volume turned lower than i first tried them... they work fine.. and it is sooooo lovely to hear what folks are saying and not be annoyed with them for "mumbling"!

This seems to be a pretty good product. I am an experienced user, but after $10,000.00 in hearing aids in 9 years with mediocre results, I had to try something else. I didn't expect much so I was not disappointed at all. The amplification is real good, The tone quality is not very good. The noise filter helps but I wish there were a could more ways to add more filtering or an adjustable tone control. I am not sorry I bought them. One mistake I made when I first tried them was turning them up too loud. Once I turned them down, they work well. If you are fussy, or expect perfect hearing, go spend 5-6k. The only question I have is where do I get replacement ear tips?

This product has helped a lot my grand father, now he feels much happier because he can listen better and now there is not miss undersanting
