Fetch Hardcover – May 15, 2014

I bought this as a Christmas present for my son, and so he has not yet seen or read this book. There is a chance that my review will change once I see his response to reading this for the first time. Nonetheless, here are my initial feelings about this book:I first learned about this book after doing a google search for “good books” for toddlers. My son is 16 months old and has a lot of books, and loves to read. So I’m always on the hunt for new books. This book received such high praise on my google search, and so it peaked my interest. After searching for it on Amazon and seeing the great reviews posted here, I decided to purchase it. I had very very high expectations based on these reviews and the ones I saw elsewhere.Note: contrary to other reviews, this book does NOT explain where dogs come from.When the book arrived, I gave it a read. I sorta have mixed feelings. First of all, the cover is unique. The illustrations are great. I think my son will definitely love “looking” at this book. The story, however, is all over the place. No real plot to speak of, and I kept double checking myself thinking I had accidentally skipped a page as I read through, because the story is not linear by any means, just jumped all over the place.If you’re looking for a book to help your child learn to read, I wouldn’t recommend this. On the other hand, If you’re looking for great illustrations and a nice life lesson, then I would recommend it for sure.

I purchased this book for my two boys, age 3 and 5, and they loved it. They especially loved the illustrations and spent time on their own looking at the pictures and talking about the dogs. We read to our kids a ton so they are discerning when it comes to good books. This one passed the test!

FETCH! is a wonderful story about where dogs come from. It is incredibly sweet and simple, with lovely illustrations that deepen the story. Even with just a few words on each page, it managed to elicit some tears from this pet and child lover. I recommend it for preschoolers or younger (to be read to). Great job, Mr. Sidwell!

This is such a cute and easy storybook for anyone to read. The pictures are very colorful, and will keep you interested in reading it to the very end. I would recommend this book to all ages, especially those of us who love dogs.

If you need & want a book for younger children that does not involve zombies, monsters, or overdone "superhero's", and just want a good old fashioned great story, perfect illustrations, and a captivating experience, then "Fetch" should be ordered quickly.

Granddaughter loves the dog...and the book!
