Chilton's Toyota Cressida and Van, 1983-90: Covers All Models : Chilton Repair Manual (Chilton's Repair Manual)

It's hard to find a repair manual for under $20.00, especially an older book. Great price for a greatly needed book. Just what I was looking for, everything I needed to know.

Okay, but never used.

If you own a Cressida (which by now is a classic car), this book is one you must have. Supplements the owner's manual and gives step by step guidance for maintenance and repair.

Its good but not what I was looking for for my '91 Cressida. Really vague and alright drawings. NOT OEM MANUAL!

All I wanted to do was:(1) diagnose an electrical short; and(2) replace the power steering beltand this manual was completely useless. It is an insult that it was published and remains available for suckers to buy. For example, with regard to changing the power steering belt, the manual gave general vague instructions, like"loosen off the driven component, and move it towards the crank", but it would not tell you how the H*!! to do that.This book couldn't even tell me how to remove the rotor. As a matter of fact, I still haven't fixed my van and it lies derelict, due to my continued inability to work on it.

I own a Toyota van, and have had no choice but to rely on this book to help me repair and maintain it. This manual is useless to the point of being dangerous. There are mistakes on every page; entire sections or pages are either left out or printed twice. The diagrams (and I'm speaking as an architect who is trained to understand such things), of which there are far too few for the van, are an indecipherable mess. I WISH there was some other source for the Toyota Van - the Hanes manual for my previous VW Jetta was a comprehensive, easy to use masterpiece - but unfortunately not. It is mind-boggling that the Chilton people actually published this book - somebody should be serving time for producing this complete fraud of a car-maintenance manual.
