Fantastic, lightweight, easy to pack, quiet, fit hands perfectly
Won't ever be without one & spare batteries. Great for storm shelters, car rides (when passengers have different definitions of air movement) and air travel (suction cup bottom allows me to stick it to tray, small enough to hold or prop against window, great to oscillate with my row mates (when no air is moving or to get perfumes away from you if allergic), hot flashes (inevitable menopause for us ladies) and quiet enough to use at work (take two - one for air movement & other to push offensive odors of perfumes, hair products, dryer sheets, food smells away, etc). Long lasting, except in the hands of children aged 2-4.

Best portable fan for the money
This little fan really moves a lot of air to the point that I wish that it had two speed settings. It is also whisper quite and the blades are safe to touch. Don't be fooled by cheaper "mini fans" that don't work well and are usually of poor quality. This fan has an excellent quality build to it and felt very sturdy in the hand. It is larger than due to the use of a D cell battery but the outside sleeve and clip is removeable which makes it much slimmer to hold. I haven't tested how long it will last on one D cell battery but with rechargeables, that shouldn't matter too much. The fan part is adjustable and can be set at various angles with 7 "click" points. The suction cup at the bottom is strong but I would not recommend it on vertical surfaces unless it is smooth like glass. Even there, it would stick for about 15 minutes before falling off. I think you would be pleased with this fan.

FAN BLADE KEEPS FALLING OFF!
THE FAN BLADE KEEPS FALLING OFF! When the fan blade is at a 90 degree angle (from the fan base), it keeps falling off immediately after being reattached to the fan base. Even when the fan blade is pointing straight up from the fan base, it also falls off within minutes! ITโS VERY FRUSTRATING AND EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! For the very short time when the fan blade remains attached to the fan base, it does provide a good breeze.

Effective but has an obnoxious humming noise.
I used to have one similar to this one that I bought from Brookstone many years ago as a kid and I was hoping this would be the same as that. Not a bad little fan, but a bit disappointed in the build quality. It's not overly noisy, but it's not exactly quiet either. In a silent room, other people will be disturbed by the level of noise the motor generates. The one I used to have was almost completely silent running and the power switch was not as cheap either. I would not recommend this if you are looking for a regular desk fan. Unless you need the suction cup for some purpose and don't mind the noise, there are almost certainly better options out there.

great for power outages in hurricane land...
I use these fans for when we have power outages here in FL, and I also use it on my nightstand when I get hot flashes at night...it's silent, so it doesn't wake you and puts out a lot of air circulation. It runs all night with no problem. It uses a single D battery, and I can say that the single D battery works in these fans much better than those others that use double or triple A. This fan is very useful and great battery life. They do have a suction cup, but they won't hold on a vertical surface. They are mostly good to keep them from falling over if on the nightstand. Handy little fan to have, works well, and I keep buying them because it's the best of the bunch if you have a hurricane.

Great Fan, a few flaws that blew by me
I got this fan to replace a small camping tent fan I was using. This fan seemed perfect after looking around at others. The fan arrived to a very excited customer, me, and I put it together. The outer shell is removable, and had a belt clip on it which is handy for carrying outdoors activities. Once removed, the fan is just a slim plastic cylinder with a screw off bottom lid for the battery insertion spot. It does seem a little...cheap once the cover is removed. If you dropped it without the shell, I wouldn't be surprised if it cracked. Once turned on, the fan has a low hum, not real annoying. It has only on and off setting no speed setting. The fan itself is rubbery, and doesn't hurt to touch, I've had a 3 year old touch the fan wings while it was running on fresh batteries and simply giggle, then made a game out of it. The neck glides a full half circle ALMOST. So you can turn the fan to point directly at you at 90degrees, and without turning the actual fan, you can make the fan point in the opposite direction to almost 90 degrees also, behind hindered a little by the belt clip in that direction. The suction cup is...well...I havn't really noticed it working at all. I guess if I wetted it or really worked at having it suction it'd be okay. Though, I have no use for the suction cup as of yet. In my estimation, the battery seems to last 3 - 4 hours, slowly dwindling in speed as time ticks. My biggest complaint is sometimes the fan needs whacked or the wings manually started if the battery is getting a little low. As if the motor needs a little jump start, it's either cause mine is defective or just how it is. It is a small motor after all so somewhat expected. Either way, I use this fan often and love it. Took it to the state fair recently, it was used the entire time and kept me cool. People were jealous! Update: 4-19-09 The fan that needed whacking or turned to start was defective. That is not normal. I have had to replace this fan a couple times because I wore the motor out accidentally etc, but I still use the fan often and am still a fan of it after many many months

I'm A Big Fan of This Fan
I purchased this little fan for a friend who is always overheated and it works great. It uses a single D cell battery which seems to power it for a long time up to 24 hours according to the literature. It's made in Canada so it is not cheap and it appears to be sturdy, durable and light weight. The soft plastic blades pose no risk or danger except maybe if someone makes the unfortunate or stupid mistake of sticking it in the eye. Since the fan is powerful there is really no need to use it close to the face. It has a clip to fasten to an auto visor or other secure place. Read and follow the simple instructions on first use and you and your fan are as good as gold.

Tiny Tornado wins my handheld battery fan comparison
I bought several handheld battery fans because i wanted to find and use the best one. i found it with the tiny tornado. it is virtually silent. it also puts out a brisk breezeโ1.72 meters/second measured at 1 foot distance with an anemometer. compare this to my Vornado 133 electric small room circulator (which is very quiet, i love and use constantly at home) at 2.18 m/s on low. i can't comment on the suction cup because it don't use this feature. Hadata fan (purchased on amazon) puts out more airโ2.38 m/s on lowโbut is moderately loud. Its medium and high settings are so intolerably loud that i didn't bother to measure air flow. the Coleman Zephyr handheld fan (purchased on amazon) puts out no air flow unless its right next to my face, and then there is very little air flow felt. the Cooler handheld fan (bought on amazon) puts out good air flow but i didn't measure it because it has only one setting and this setting is loud, it's louder than the Hadata fan. the Travelon 3 speed fan puts out little air flow and is loud. the acid test for me is: which fan will i use at a hot outdoor event based on air flow and loudness (READ: irritating to me and people sitting next to me)? the tiny tornado, without a doubt!

Wonderful product.
This is my second purchase of one of these. 1st one was made in Taiwan. This one says its fabrique au Canada. Probably explains why it's about 3 times more expensive. Wonderful product.
