Waylon Jennings begins here. One of the epochal careers in country music took root in September 1958 when Buddy Holly produced his first single. This 6-CD boxed set traces Waylon Jennings' early career from that first single to April 1968. After Holly's death, Waylon Jennings went to Arizona. His legendarily rare Phoenix album, 'Waylon at J. D. 's' is here, together with singles and demo's from the years in Arizona. The early folk-country recordings for A&M are also complete for the first time, including Four Strong Winds, Just To Satisfy You, and several unissued recordings. In March 1965, Waylon Jennings signed with RCA and began the long process of discovering his own voice. All of his RCA recordings prior to June 1968 are complete here, including the early hits Anita You're Dreaming, The Chokin' Kind, For Lovin' Me, Mental Revenge, Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line, and Green River. The early LPs, now extremely rare, are also complete; these include 'Hangin' On,' 'Only The Greatest,' 'Folk Country,' 'Leavin' Town,' 'Sings Ol' Harlan,' and 'Love Of The Common People.' The set also includes a 60-page-hardcover-book, featuring an essay from Waylon Jennings' official biographer, Lenny Kaye. 'Getting there, that's the trick,' Lenny Kaye writes. 'It's easy to look over your shoulder and see the dotted hindsight along the map. It's tougher when you're moving forward, feeling your way, compassing by divining-rod and night vision, trying to fathom where you're going when you don't know exactly where it is you're heading. What it even is. If it could be possible. You just know how it'll sound when you arrive. Threading those winding roads of life can take a while.

Stunning bear family box set
This box set of Waylon Jennings is amazing. I have listened to the odd song by him occasionally over the last 30+ years but I would never have said I was really into him or even wanted a cd compilation of him in my collection. I had this box set in my watch list for ages before I bought it. When I bought andlistened to it I was stunned by how great he is, repeated listening and he just gets under your skin, I find him so multi layered as a performer, each time I hear a song that I've heard before I find something new in it. Hidden gems are plentiful on this set. I am now wild about Anita Carter thanks to her duets with Waylon. I think this set is very good value for money, where else would you find these songs? Sound quality and packaging are second to none.

Waylon Lives On in His Music and in the hearts of his fans !!!!
I'm such a Waylon fan from way back....first time I ever heard a song of his I was blown away. This collection is such a rare find and I'm so happy. I now have two complete sets and all that is missing are some of the songs recorded on his early vinyl record recordings. My hope is that one day they will be remastered on disc.This is great and thanks to the producers who put together this compilation of Waylon tunes for all of his fans to enjoy. Great in depth history of his early works, great sound and the book with the pictures and the essays are also great. Highly recommend!

CD had wrong music
I was happy with the set until I got to CD #6 and found that although the CD was labeled correctly the music on the disc was not Waylon Jennings! It was a collection of R&B artists. Therefore I cannot give it a full five stars. I only regret that I was not able to listen to the entire set before the return window closed.

Nice Waylon set, warning there is more than one set to this series
This is a very nice set, lots of great material and the book is layed out nice and lots of information.the only disapointment is how Amazon lists the product as with many of their listings they don't list the songs on the set/album... I do like the set but after purchasing I found out it was the other set I wanted "Waylon Jennings, six strings away". Alot of money spent for the wrong set so it will always be a bit of a disapointment.
