Currant Inc. wants you to share ALL you're "sensative info" to use their app
Currant Inc. wants you to share ALL you're "sensative info" to use their app including irrelevant to your energy usage and sell it to whomever for whatever reason. Had I been informed of this policy at the time of purchase I would have made another choice.

You need an Online Account to use their software.
I was so excited to get this product and Immediately let down when I got it. I should've downloaded the app before I bought the product. I installed the app on my phone and the first thing it wants you to do is create an account, using facebook, google or an email address. I'm tired of having to make online accounts just to have my info stolen (which has already happened to me) or sold, or traded or used to blackmail. All I wanted to do was see how much power some of my appliances are using. This is a bluetooth device and shouldn't need an account setup to see that. So for wasting my time with a poorly designed intrusive application I'm giving this one star.

It's a product per outlet
I got this because my energy bill is high and i wanted to know what's wasting the most energy. I was under the impression this item would somehow, once plugged into any outlet, give me the output of electricity for alll my outlets in my home. In retrospect I might have been overly optimistic. The way this product works, you plug the item into an outlet, on the item is more outlets, you plug whatever you want into the product. Then, if you download their app, and turn on your bluetooth, it'll tell you the amount of energy that goes through the product. Thus, telling you how much energy whatever you're plugging in is using up. I've found that the item wont record the energy unless you keep bluetooth on. So It'll record the amount of energy used, on the app, ONLY if you keep your bluetooth on. So if you want to know how much energy your computer uses up in a day, you keep your bluetooth on all day, then check the app when the day's over. A little inconvenient for me, and way too expensive to fill your house with these.

Kill A Watt + Timer + Smart Outlet with a beautiful app to control it all
In an attempt to reduce our electrical energy footprint, I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out how much energy various devices are using. However, it's difficult to get an accurate picture of the power consumption of any device unless you integrate it's usage over time. Additionally, even if you determine that a device is consuming a lot of electricity, you need to be able to do something about it.Currant's Dual Outlet Smart Energy Meter is the first product that solves this problem. It gives a highly accurate measurement of the amount of power being consumed by a plugged in device (the Kill-a-Watt is surprisingly inaccurate compared to Currant!). The rules engine is absolutely fantastic, allowing you to easily setup a rule to cut the power to the device when you don't expect to be using it. No more trying to remember to unplug something because it's going to sit there and keep sucking down the power and adding up on the electricity bill as once you've set a rule the Currant outlet will take care of it.I also liked the ability to see how much energy (and dollars!) a particular device has consumed over time. The iOS app is beautifully designed and is very simple to use. It's clear that the creators thought about how the device would be used as the ability to swap the plate on the back to change the orientation of the device is just a nice touch. This is definitely the next generation of a Kill A Watt like device. But it's way more. It's also a Smart outlet that can be controlled from your phone. It's also the best timer device you could buy as the rules make is so simple to set it up, unlike all those other timer devices where you're left staring at the manual to figure out how to "program" them.Brilliant device and the price point is right too (especially since it's got dual monitored/controlled outlets!)

"Smart" outlet "Programmable Schedule" ON/OFF not working with Iphone.
"Smart" outlet does not respond to the Scheduling portion of the iPhone IOS application. The Instant ON/OFF switching functions work, but the programmable schedule does not work. Why have a "SMART" device that is only as smart as a regular wall outlet...? The energy usage portion of the app is meaningless for a device that does not work. The manual On/Off switches on the actual device work. I have the latest Apple IOS version inslalled. Uninstalled- reinstalled the App multiple times. No Go, so it was returned for a refund. Only reason to buy the item was the "Smart schedule". No Go.

Someone is stealing my electricity
Bought these when they where a little more expensive, but even so if your thinking about getting these things just jump right in. For the price your not going to find a better, more reliable means of tracking power usage. After installing these at all of my outlets and gathering a months worth of data I was able to petition the power company to investigate my townhome for possible theft. When they asked what made me thought it was happening I mentioned the Currant outlet system i had purchased and they immediately responded with opening an investigation. Also, I was able to identify my refrigerator was having problems, checked the doors and sure enough the seals where busted. Ordered a new refrigerator and now it consumes less than 1/2 the energy to stay cold. Will post photos of before and after.

Very modern smart plug with rich data
When I first opened it, the shiny, mirror-like surface looked beautiful. Way more presentable than a Wemo switch. The setup was a breeze and the on/off indicator lights (for each plug) look slick. Mobile app is well designed and I was impressed with how real-time the current level data is - it seems like <1s refresh. A little more expensive than wemo insight but this is a more modern looking and data rich (days/months? of granular energy data)
