Hi, the slicer/shredder bowl does hold food as it pours out the chopped/shredded food you place in the feeder tube.

How many blades does this package come with?

Two blades- one for spiralizing, (zoodles) and one for slicing and shredding. (One side shreds, then flip it over to use the slicing side)
