Animal Planet Safari Crochet

The patterns are great, really pleased I bought this. The yarn is terrible though, I'd suggest buying something else. The brown yarn was hard and crunchy and difficult to use.

I crocheted these animals for my 2 year old granddaughters birthday. They are lovely and very realistic to the real animals. Their sizes are proportionate to each other too. I found the instructions easy to follow and the results very satisfying. I would consider doing some again as single presents for children in the family.

Never crocheted in my life and managed to make a lion!! I did need to look at a few YouTube videos for the different types of stitches, but the pattern was easy enough to follow for a beginner. Great kit for the price and looking forward to making the rest of the animals.

Very useful set. I omitted the wart hog and honey badger, (not to my taste...)but have made all the others - see picture - from oddments in my stash.My husband soldered two nails to two 5p pieces, we rounded off the top of the nails, then inserted these in the ostrich’s legs, so it could stand up. The nail ends reached up into the bird’s body. I glued them in place, and ensured crochet toes covered the coins. My granddaughter is 7, so will be safe with this, but obviously not safe for a younger child.Generally easy to follow patterns, but a bit fiddly at times, especially when inserting the safety eyes into small heads. A couple of times I used tiny glass eyes, with wire loops behind them for sewing in place. Again, check on age of recipient for safety reasons.I used a green tweedy yarn for the crocodile - very effective!Now trying to invent a pattern for a realistic jungle snake to finish off the set.
