Update November 23, 2018 -- Amazon agreed to replace the item for me because the seller had been unresponsive to their warranty. The second one is even worse than the first! Initially, the usb ports and hdmi port all worked fine. Neither of the SD card ports work at all which was the reason for replacing the first one. Less than a week in and the only thing working is the HDMI port. Terrible product.Purchased in July and used for one day immediately after purchase. Began using it again in mid-September when I purchased a new MacBook Pro that only has USB-C ports.I chose this particular model because it had all the functions I needed in a small package. I use the USB and HDMI ports every day but had only used the SD card readers one time when I first purchased the unit. About 3 weeks ago I attempted to use the SD card readers again and neither one would read the card. I attempted to read an SDHC card, a micro SD card and a micro-SD card in an adapter. None would read.Contacted the seller and identified the problem. Also mentioned that the unit is often hot. The seller responded, "it will get hot when work for long ,can you let it rest for while and it can work again , all the Electronics product has the hot problem," completely ignoring the failure of the SD card readers. Not to mention that it is simply untrue that all electronic items run hot.I finally contacted Amazon directly and they are issuing a refund for the original item provided I return it and re-order. The re-order will be here in a few days. Hopefully it works for longer than the first one did.Finally, I likely would not have bothered with this review if the seller had been more responsive. The other thing I learned from this is that I was unable to give seller feedback for an order that was placed 4 months ago.

I can see why the refund/return window is so short (1 month?). It doesn't seem that this thing is built to last. Like several other reviews here, mine also has bitten the dust after about 2 months of use. The USB 3/microSD/SD card slots still work at the time of writing, but the HDMI output has stopped out of the blue. My guess is they play the numbers game to sell this in large enough volume to make the profits, not provide a long enough warranty to get out of the liabilities, and eventually this product like many others on Amazon will simply disappear and be re-branded/re-marketed as other cheaply built items here for mass consumerism.Hey seller/distributor/manufacturer - if you actually read this, you're contributing to the world's insane and growing electronic waste while taking peoples' money for your selfish short-time gain. The concept and price of the product is a fantastic solution for my MacBook. Unfortunately, I’ve had the device for only about 3 months and the HDMI part JUST STOPPED WORKING (while the other parts continue to work). I learned of this failure while getting ready to present to a large group. I had to copy off all my files (luckily USB still worked) to another presenters machine. Very disappointed in this product.

It worked great for a few months then the HDMI port randomly stopped working. All the other ports still work. It's not my HDMI cable, tv or MacBook because they all work with another adapter.

Simple enough to use, but you often have to re-plug it in to get everything connected to work. A lot of times one of my usb keyboard/mouse or the hdmi wouldn't work until I plugged it in a couple of times. Then after about 2 months the hdmi just doesn't work anymore. I verified the hdmi cord isn't the issue, so it's just this cord. It also runs really hot for some reason.

I brought this for my Samsung Chromebook Pro because it only has UBS C. It worked once to charge my phone and barely worked another time when I used the in my the HDMI port with my TV. After that it never worked again. Piece of trash.

When attached to hdmi and connected to Asus Chromebook, picture and sound come go in and out of connection. The adapter fails when extending desktop and mirroring desktop. Though the USB ports are working just fine, the HDMI port stopped working after few months of use.I wouldn't recommend buying this product if you would be using the adapter to connect to an HDMI device.
