My favorite fiction of all time
Amazing fiction work from one of the foremost polemicists writers in the 20th century. A meaningful and well written epic spanning generations, cultures, and political upheaval. Also a heart-wrenching coming of age/ family drama story. The word play is simply quintessential; I love Roy's use of her architecture training in her vocabulary. Poetic imagery in prose. A very worth-while read.

A classic
Sometimes it was hard to keep the characters names straight. There seemed to be 2 names for each character, thus, made it hard to be sure who I was reading about. That aside, this book has amazing content and message. A clasic

Used book was fine.
Wonderful book. I had borrowed it from a neighbor and our puppy chewed it up, got this used copy to replace hers.

All over the place.
Too much time describing got in the way of the story, which seems to bounce from one thing to the next in a haphazard manner.
