Once you have selected the type of material you want to make, you can import sign clipart from the dictionary, use shapes or draw freehand, add text, import other images, and of course, save, and/or print your creation. Good resource for ASL clipart for Windows XP
I got this program so I could make up vocabulary sheets for an ASL class I am teaching this summer. The 3-star rating is based on failure to work with Windows Vista, and some features of program not working with Windows XP:It does not work as advertised with Windows Vista (using Parallels on my Mac) -- instead of opening the program after installing, I got an error message. I looked up the error message on Google and found it means the operating system is too advanced for the software program. It "mostly" works on an older PC I have with Windows XP. I have not been able to access the "Banners" section of the program (clicking on the tab yields no result), but don't really need that anyway. Here's how I've used ASL Clip & Create, in conjunction with an editing program called ifranview (free from the internet). In ASL Clip & Create, go to the "Sign Sequence" tab, and type in the word I want. It will display 1, 4, 9 signs per page, so I select "1". Then "Save" image as bitmap format on my harddrive in a folder I set up for the clipart. After saving all the signs I need for the week's class, I exit the ASL Clip & Create program. In Windows Explorer, open the folder where the bitmap images are saved. Next I open the ifranview program (a black editing box appears), and drag the 1st image into it. Now I can add my own text to the image, and crop off the wide borders to reduce the size. I save it in a second folder (keeping my originals intact for future projects). Finally, in Word I create a table of 3 columns by 4 rows, and in each cell I can paste a picture I've saved. Looks great, and it's easy to cut & paste the pics around if I decide to delete a word.Ifranview also allows me to add lines, so for example when I didn't find the sign I wanted for "FINISH", I used "HERE" instead, erasing the lines that indicated movement and drawing in lines and text to describe the shaking hands of the "FINISH" I wanted ... later, though, I found the ASL C&C sign for "DONE" was the same as the "FINISH" I wanted, so I didn't end up using my earlier saved image. But with ifranview, it's nice to know I can edit the image a little if need be.Overall I think the artwork is pretty good; not as clear as that from the ABC ASL book (A Basic Course in ASL, from TJ Publishers), but satisfactory for my purposes (legal, legible vocabulary sheets).I'm still experimenting with cleaning up the images, and making the lines clearer, but even for the first week, I'm satisfied with the resulting clipart in terms of legibility and accuracy. For instructors in ASL, this seems a pretty cheap way to produce class materials.

This is a great tool when working with Deaf students in the classroom
This is a great tool when working with Deaf students in the classroom. Most signs are conceptually correct. I use this to send the signs home with the students for spelling words and new vocabulary. Each sign has a picture in the corner of the item and the printed word on the image. The program is a little difficult to learn how to work as it does not come with any instructions. You just have to play with it until you can figure out how to operate it. I feel that there has to be an easier way to use it but so far I have not been able to find it. All in all it is a helpful tool.

Great Resource
I want to commend the IDRT company that created the ASL Clip and Create. Although this product is somewhat outdated technologically (we own a Pentium 4 computer), we are still able to use this product on our computer. We already owned an ASL (hard copy) dictionary, but having this CD/DVD allows us to print out sentences & labels & all sorts of neat things for our signing child. In turn, this allows us to interact better with her school district -- they are even jealous of what I create. I would love to see this product updated with more ASL signs & with a faster capability, but I would still buy it "as is".

I like using clip art for my ASL class
I like using clip art for my ASL class. I can create worksheets or games depending on what topic my class is learning. There's many options to print and create your own puzzles. My favorite part of the clip art is the ability to create worksheets or other thngs with the sign, word, or pictures with using all three, or one at a time to work on building skills. I wish they would make a clip art with classifiers !

Not worth the money.
I got this and was so excited to be able to make my own worksheets for my daycare chidren. I had also read somewhere that you could put the graphics in your own word document. The worksheets aren't very good and I couldn't find a way to put them in my own document. Dissapointed and probably won't use it.

Just received the CD and can't down load it. ...
Just received the CD and can't down load it. I called the company listed on the CD and they have not returned my call. I am right in the middle of trying to put signs with a book for one of my students and am at a dead end. A bit frustrating.

She wanted to use this to help with her student in her school classes and this has been a very BIG disappointment. Can't believe
I have ordered this item twice now for my daughter-in-law and neither copy works and am very upset. She wanted to use this to help with her student in her school classes and this has been a very BIG disappointment. Can't believe that we have been unable to get either of these to work. Don't know if these are pirated CD's or what, but for what we received, it sure isn't worth the money spent.

Doesn't work as described..
First the program on the disc states that it can not open because this isn't the original CD. Then the CD opens sometimes not everytime as it should when placed into the CD drive. I was really looking forward to using this program to create quizzes for my students. Very disappointed in this product. It's basically a program someone has copied over and over and over again to sell to the masses.
