The Learning Language and Loving It guidebook offers early childhood educators a wealth of practical information on how to increase children's participation in social interactions and expand their receptive and expressive language and emergent literacy skills during everyday activities and conversations. The guidebook describes and illustrates responsive interaction strategies that meet the needs of all children (birth-5), including those with or at risk of language delay and those who are second-language learners. Review: Excellent reference - A bit pricey, but it's an invaluable source, both for teacher and for parents. I am often loaning this to the parents of my preschool class to borrow, and they all come back with the same comment....."wow! What a tremendous book, where can I order one for my own?" Review: Textbook for Masters Class - Got it for my gf who needed it for a masters level class, it was not available on campus, but desertcart came to the rescue.

The Greatest book
I enjoyed the easy read of the book. It was simple and straight forward and that is what matters. The information is just what we need to keep new ideas flowing in the classroom. It's not always easy to find good textbooks geared toward that birth to five stage. Thanks

Learning Language and Loving It
About ten years ago I received a copy of Learning Languages and Loving It from a friend. As an early childhood educator, I have used it many times to add new activities and in planning lessons for the preschool children in my classes over the years. What I like about it is the wonderful pictures of children having fun, how it explains concepts and is written in a manner that parents and professional educators can find it enlightening when working with preschool children. I have loaned it to other teachers and parents of preschool children, who all found it helpful.

textbook.
It's a pretty good book. It provides some pretty helpful tips but for the most part it seems like common knowledge type stuff. The product came in fast and for a WAY cheaper price than if i bought this at the book store.

Good for parents too
I bought this as a parent with a 2 year old who is not yet talking. Although the book is intended for childcare professionals, as a full time mum I consider myself to be a childcare professional!! I have found the chapters on encouraging the early stages of communication really useful, and am hoping to find the later chapters on developing conversations with children useful once we have got past the first words stages. Its made me a lot more confident about how to help my child learn to talk, so definitely worth the money.

essential for daycare teachers
I found this book to be extremely thorough in describing methods for helping young children develop their language skills. Their method is actually quite simple and happens through the course of a regular day, and regular activities. I would highly recommend it to anyone who works with young children. It is written particularly for educators in daycare settings, but could be useful for lower elementary as well. I'm not entirely sure about older kids, but the methods seem suitable for all children, just the situations would change.
