Expensive but very useful
Sturdily constructed. Very stable. Expensive but one of its kind. Well suited for bench lifting with long catch/support tops. The height is finely adjustable within the specified range using the lock knob bolts. When using the safety pins, the height is adjustable in discrete intervals. The workmanship of the welds is not the best.

These matter
They are so high on price, but after endless searches for something similar, I bought them. Simply stated....these are worth it. I used to have to guess when I was close to muscle failure so I could get it back up on the stands when I was bench pressing. Now, I can give it hell and these things catch it if I can't get it back up. Working out alone, its like your own personal spotter. They work on carpeted floors, if you are wondering, tried and true. I pushed the limit on my workout and used this device twice in 4 sets to get me to failure level on my benching..... they hold up. Put the bar anywhere on it and the gravity holds it down, it doesn't tip. If you work out alone, spend the cash, I'm not sorry I did, I can work out to complete muscle failure now. I put these 3 or 4 inches inside the area of my bench stands and when I can't get it back up, I just put it back a little bit and put it down. If you work out alone, GET THESE! you won't regret it.

Quality not as expected at this price point.
These would be decent stands for $50. They should be much better quality for $100. My biggest complaint if the finis on the rack arms. Its poorly finished and wears right off when the bar rolls on it. It would be better if there was a non-marring surface for the bar to rest on. The brand stickers were not attached well and in peeled them off with some effort. The stands are solid, however the top rack should be narrower or the bottom feet wider. When the barbel is at the extreme front or back, the stands can be tipped over without much effort.

Just what I hoped for
I've been looking for some time for a simple, and relatively inexpensive, rack to do bicep and tricep work with, using an olympic straight bar. These stands fit the bill perfectly. They adjust short enough that you can do tricep work lying on a flat bench (picking the bar up off the stands from behind your head and laying the bar back on at finish). I usually leave the stands at about mid-thigh height for some quick straight bar bicep work. I've read some reviews that say the stands are poorly made or finished. That was not the case with mine -- they fit together great, are nicely finished and are just what I expected. I will note the most weight I have on the stands is probably 80 pds or so. I personally would not do squats with them, as its hard to believe they are stable enough for 150+ pounds, especially if you're in trouble.

Could use some improvements in the coating
I like using these stands for several different exercises. They will support the weight if I need them to, and sometimes I use them to support the curl bar when I am changing weights, better than doing it on the floor and having to lift one end all the time. But I found one flaw on the first use.The paint is thin, it scratches off easily, and in my opinion, there should have been another kind of coating on them for durability. There are a lot of supports out there that come with 'cages' that have a dimpled texture, which on mine and after 16 plus years, so far, have not even one scratch on them, and I use them a lot, especially for supporting a long bar when changing weights or hook positions for the bar itself (I have a Tuff Stuff system I bought in 1995). But I put a bar on these supports here and it scratched straight off.So what to do? I could have returned them, but that would entail additional postage, so I took some thick cloth and wrapped it around the supports and used some rubber bands to secure them. (This is temporary until I come to a better more permanent solution) This works, but I shouldn't have to do it. The supports are expensive enough as it is and have debated over the last 3 or so years on whether or not to get them. I finally did, obviously, but I would be wary on any other product from them. And they are made in China, which explains a lot.I have been thinking about getting some rubber sheet and wrapping that around the top supports. Will also dampen any sound when the bar hits them. Too bad about the paint, would have 5 stars otherwise. One other complaint that annoys me when I adjust the bar height, the rubber covers that go over the stem always come off. I think I will have to use some silicone to secure them, and again, another expense.

Could be taller.
Cheap Chinese product.Well welded. Rubber is cheap and smelly.Bought it to do bench press, but it doesn't do the job. It is too low even in highest adjustment. I have regular height bench but there is very little space left between bench and bar, so you have to squeeze yourself under and I'm skinny one. If bench is in lifted position it become impossible to get in. So you have to place it either on the back or in front of you, so you won't be able to lift properly and it become more dangerous than without it.Get something much higher.

Good product, but not needed for squats
Bought this a gift for my husband who uses heavy weights for squats. He said he doesn't need this type of stand for squats. This would be best for someone doing bench presses without a spotter. It was easy to assemble. I used a hammer to pound on the feet and two adjustable wrenches. The only negative was that the plastic feet have a strong rubber odor at first, but by the next day I didn't notice it. Also one of the plastic collars was broken when it arrived, but that didn't matter much to the functionallity. I'm going to return it, since he doesn't want it.
