Predator Trilogy [4K Ultra-HD + Blu-ray] [2018]

OK, the predator trilogy on blu ray. I'm not going to go into the films as you probably have a good idea, this review is about the product itself. The box is just as shows, it's not the sturdiest box ever made but I've seen worse. It's a six disc edition, (the 3 films on blu ray and then the digital copies), Each case is a typical blu ray case with two discs inside, one disc on the left, the other on the right (they dont have that extra disc holder in the middle that flaps about all the time). Now the films. The first film (predator) is the best one of the set, the transfer is perfect! You see all the jungle scenes as if you were there, the mist, smoke and night scenes are all really well done. The sound is amazing, the dialogue crisp and the background noise clear. For a film made in 1987, I couldn't be happier. AUDIO; 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio PICTURE; Full 1080p (1.85:1 Aspect Ratio) EXTRAS: There are loads of extras but the most interesting are: Predator (evolution of a species) documentary, the making of, inside the predator documentary and a great camouflage test insight. The second film (predator 2) OK, the film isn't that good (the worst of the 3) but just like Predator the transfer is great and the sound perfect. AUDIO: 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio PICTURE: Full 1080p (1.85:1 Aspect Ratio) EXTRAS: There are less than for Predator 1 but still some interesting options, The hunters and the hunted documentary and various segments like six weapons of choice and 3 evolutions segments. The third films (Predators) Really enjoyed this film, a lot better than Predator 2 and a new original storyline without losing the true predator theory. Obviously this film is recent, so it's no surprise that the picture is perfect and the audio too, great film experience. AUDIO: 5.1 NF DTS HD Master Audio PICTURE: Full 1080p (2.35:1 Aspect Ratio) EXTRAS: A great Evolution of the species documentary, a nice Fox Movie Channel - Making a scene and other extras. So, a great set of films, great transfers and a great price, you can't go wrong. 5 STARS And if you're thinking about upgrading from VHS or DVD, think no more, I have the DVD of predator and in blu ray it looks like a different film. An extra note, thank you very much to Amazon UK who changed the whole boxset for me after having problems with the third film (Predators) without charging me for the change, great service.

First I'm just going to say i'll try and keep each review short and sweet so that i don't waffle and bore everyone. 1. Predator. Ok, one of my favourite films of all time, but i'll still be honest with it for those who are interested in watching this for the first time. As Arnies 11th major film wasn't very well received on general release, Predator carried as a Cult hit through the years making it one of the most successful of it's kind, 2nd to the legendary 'Evil Dead'. Though the movie does lack any real interesting back story other than the usual army scenarios we are all used to hearing about, the performances from the whole cast is what really makes this the more entertaining. Carl Weathers is especially good as the only real 'seasoned' actor of the whole group, and the teaming of him and Arnold is a very interesting mix of acting styles. Shane black 'Iron man 3 director' makes an appearance as Hawkins, alongside WE's legendary wrestler Jesse Ventura. The SFX are also very good considering it was a reasonably low budget movie at the time, but they do pay off with the location set in the forests of central America which are beautifully photographed in the panoramic shots. 2. Predator 2 Stephen Hopkins made a very brave choice changing the setting to the streets of LA, but in any case of making a sequel, never try to make it too much the same as the original. The idea of this was good even though it didn't get the thumbs from both fans or the critics, but let's not get too judgemental. Lets take the cast, we've got Danny Glover who is very good at portraying emotional characters, which is pretty much a necessity in a film like this, but unfortunately for us all he isn't Arnie...but what do you expect! Bill Paxton who's character is short lived was a nice lively side to very much a serious film (a balance always has to be made somewhere) and then last but not least the gorgeous Maria Conchita Alonso as the gritty female cop. Now as far as the star of the show goes, he's just on a mission of rampage, which is all we need for this film to work for us. Brilliantly acted by returning former basketballer ''Kevin peter Hall'' who sadly passed away shortly after the movie had been released. So Predator 2 does have its flaws which i will leave for you all, but i do recommend it just for the sake of it being part of the franchise. 3. Predators As it says on the cover 'The sequel the original deserves'. It's a very appropriate statement, and who better to have involvement with it....Mr. Rodriguez. Now don't get me wrong, predators may be not what everyone was expecting it to be, but i really enjoyed it simply because it's not trying to be like the original Predator. It is in it's own right, it's own film. the performances are great, Adrian Brody does a really good job as well as Danny Trejo and Topher Grace. The predator lore is brlliantly executed here too, giving us a more in depth education of the origins of the beasts and why the species are the way they are. The movie is slow to start, i will admit i was a little dubious at first, but don't let that get the better of you as the action sequences are very well thought out and thrilling to watch. The set itself is very well presented and as said by other reviewers, the quality of the original is flawless given the age of it. the extras are also very interesting, i highly recommend watching the animated short which you can find on disc 6 (Predators bonus disc). Also if it's your thing the audio commentaries are very interesting to listen to as well.

A must have for the collection.

love these films, first one is (in my opinion) arnies best film. great turn from danny glover in the second one. predators is a very good restart to the franchise and left open for more(hopefully) to come. great value bluray compared to dvd price on individual films.

The first two films are older and so expect some film grain in the transfer. The second one appears to suffer a bit more than the original Predator's transfer, perhaps as that one is the more famous film it got more time spent on it. Predators, the third film in the set, having been made much later, appears to have been filmed in 4K, so there aren’t many issues with the transfer. If you’re buying this set you probably know the three films. The first one is a minor classic of the sci-fi adventure genre, even today the acting comes across as more tongue in check than anything. The second one is more campy, but to be fair, the final showdown fight scenes are arguably better than the first one. The third one is kind of it’s own thing, but still pretty good.

Predator Trilogy [2018] blu ray 4K This is a review of the 4K trilogy boxset. The first film is outstanding - a complete film, fantastical and entertaining - 'Get in the chopper!' Oddly, I really like the second film, and have had my eye out for a decent transfer for years now - Which is the reason for my purchase. The second film is rendered in all it's 90s glory and I'm a fan of the way Danny Glover plays his part and there's more to ike than not. The third film, Predators, for me, is right up there with the first film (almost). As for the discs themselves, you get blu ray copies a digital download code along with the 4k copies: the picture quality is superb and the sound is absoulutely pin sharp; yes you get grain on the older films - you also get a vibrant colour transfer, and as a keen 'film fan' - it does not detract from enjoying the films in the slightest. Get them while you can!

Arnie at his best. Extreme violence, explosions, loud gunfire, grinning wisecracks at gutted bad guys, what more could you want? I always feel that watching a Blu-Ray of an old favourite is partly an exercise in justifying the expenditure. In the case of Predator I am happy with my profligate spending. You can easily see scenes where extra detail, depth, colour and amazingly detailed sound add to the experience. The jungle is greener, the gunfire from all around the room makes you duck, you can feel the explosions in your chest. You really can see the beads of sweat on faces. The scene where Arnie lights a fire in the jungle to attract the beastie looks amazing. The orange glow of the fire on the jungle at night is detailed enough to see reflections on individual leaves. However, there are a few scenes where the remastering has gone horribly wrong. For some reason Dillan appears to have a plastic face in all close-ups. He also appears to have eye-liner and lipstick on. I love this flick and I feel the Blu-Ray has improved the experience, plastic faces aside.

Great films,watching different predators hunting aliens, I enjoyed watching them, l had a binge session, great for my collection's,definitely worth the price

Superbe, Blu-ray, Collector

Sono e rimango fan di Predator da quando Arnold vinceva sistematicamente Mr.Olympia, da piccolo avevo il VHS credo di averlo smagnetizzato a furia di riguardarlo! Il PRIMO è qualcosa che lascia a bocca aperta: la qualità di immagine in alta definizione dopo la pulizia di immagine in BlueRay ve lo fa quasi sembrare "nuovo", giuro! Non ci credevo, ma ammetto che di tanti film BlueRay storici/cult, questo qui DEVE essere assolutamente RI-guardato con attenzione perchè pur aver perso il conto di quante volte io lo abbia già fatto, il Blueray regala dettagli che era impossibile vedere altrimenti. Vi Stupirà. Il SECONDO invece vi renderete conto come in quegli anni era tipico fare un film AMERICANO in quello stile, forse non sarà entusiasmante ma sente parecchio lo stile "vintage" dell'americana. MA tant'è che almeno il TERZO capitolo (ultimo) regala qualitativamente una buona immagine e suono, un aspetto "moderno" forse al limite del futuristico ma è molto più guardabile. Molti son stati critici ma secondo il mio parere A.Brody ci sta bene come protagonista alla fne dei conti. Il dietro le quinte del terzo è infinito e merita di guardarselo con calma tutto quanto. Cofanetto che fan o no, merita parecchio!

I'VE NOTICED WHEN I BUY DVDS FROM UK AREA, THEY HAVE A MUCH BETTER SOUND & PICTURE. IF YOU HAVE A FEW BUCKS, I THINK YOU SHOULD BUY THIS SET. THE ONE THING THE STUDIO DID WRONG WAS CUT THE MOVIE LITTLE SHORT ON THE 3RD DVD PREDATORS. THEY NEED TO STOP THIS AND GIVE THE CUSTOMERS THE WHOLE MOVIE. BUY THIS COLLECTIONMY FRIENDS, YOU WILL BE HAPPY.
