Enjoyable read on how modernity gradually made its way into Iranian psyche (especially some women) at the time. A highly recommended book.

It is a great book written by an Iranian princes Tāj al-Salṭanah (1883 – 25 January 1936) from Qajar Dynasty and to give you a good view from women in her period. She was one the first women activist. Ms. Parvin Mohammadian have converted it to an audio book in the most professional manner.

Good to read
I think this is a good book to read to see what the concerns of a progressive Iranian woman from a privileged class was in the Qajar Era. She certainly has not the best and easiest style, so sometimes following what she says is not easy.I was certainly surprised at her socialist and feminist concerns, and her nationalist feelings given the fact that she was a Qajar princess. No book I have read so far has pictured the life of Qajar women in the Harem better than this one.I certainly recommend the book to researchers, but also to general public interested in history and in women's narratives.
