No sugar or sugar substitutes
It’s good to know there’s a product with fiber that doesn’t have artificial sweeteners or sugar. The taste is rather bland without sweeteners, but it’s a healthier product for those who want to avoid sugar and sugar substitutes. I feel that I’ve benefited my health and my digestion. with additional fiber. I have not had any negative side effects from this product.

Healthy, Effective, and great when mixed with Splenda and Koolaid mix. The best of many options I've tried.
I've sampled a few different varieties of fiber supplements, including both Benefiber and off-brands, and I found that Metamucil provided the most fiber in the least offensive beverage. Compared to the other brands, this stuff is smoother textured, and goes down easier, as a sort of happy medium between the grittier supplements and the thicker ones. What about effectiveness? I have apocalyptic IBS, and since starting to take this stuff regularly (one giant glass every morning and evening), my BMs have been much more regular, and more manageable. Flare-ups happen less, and it even seems to do a decent job when taken with meals of cutting the hit to my stomach and gut. I tend to take more than the recommended amount, with an even larger serving of water, as I feel like it helps me stay hydrated and full throughout the day.I started taking the classic orange Metamucil, but although I really liked the superior flavor (rather like Orange Tang) it packed several times more sugar in each serving than fiber, so while it was great for digestive health, the overall health impact was too negative. I also sampled the sugar-free berry flavors, but found that, although it was ostensibly healthier, the flavor wasn't great, and in addition it suffered from the aspartame aftertaste and further effects (Aspartame gives me headaches). So this was a dilemma for me. What to do? I actually wrote to Metamucil about it, and they recommended this product. The downside is that it comes with absolutely no flavor, so you need to provide your own in order to mask the texture (I wouldn't dream of trying to mix this in plain water--yuck!) The upside is they pack 100+ servings into a container, and you really are free to blend it into whatever suits your fancy. Obviously if you mix it with something like orange juice, then you're already negating the benefits of this stuff over the sugary orange flavor, but I've personally found a much better way.I like to mix this stuff with Kool-aid mix and Splenda (Sucralose) sweetener. I buy a ton of Splenda and kool-aid as it mixes up tasting sweet, like sugar, but without the calories or aftertaste. You can dump a spoonful of this stuff into a glass of splenda-koolaid, or just dump 8 servings worth of this stuff in with a packet of koolaid powder and a cup of splenda, and then just mix it up and spoon it into water as needed. Better tasting, sugar-free and packed with good useful fiber.EDIT: I wish I could subscribe to this stuff. Price of splenda has gone up, but I've figured out thatyou can just dump 7 packets of koolaid mix and 7 dashes of sucralose into a container of this and shake it up.

Works
It does not taste the best, but it works and does not have all the added sweeteners.

Not delicious. But not too bad tasting.
I'd been using the product with real sugar. But that has more sugar than fiber! Didn't want the artificial sweeteners. Gave the "Unflavored..., Plain with No Added Sweeteners". Okay, so not as tasty (maybe 'a spoon full of sugar' really DOES help the medicine go down), but certainly tolerable. Kinda of earthy tasting. I haven't tried adding it to anything else. Just 2 teaspoons with 8oz of water. Helps to rinse my mouth out with a few more mouthfuls of plain water afterwards. That also prevents the minor belching up after taking. I've definitely switched to unsweetened version!

Misleading Product Labeling, Maltodextrin is a sweetener
Amazon will refund or exchange product with misleading labeling. This product is labeled as no sweetener added. It contains maltodextrin which is a sweetener and it appears it may be an unsafe sweetener. This is information from WebMD: The powder is used as an additive in the foods above to replace sugar and improve their texture, shelf life, and taste.Potential Health Risks of MaltodextrinIf you eat too many foods containing maltodextrin, your diet's quality is likely to be below par. You will get too much sugar and low amounts of fiber. Such diets will increase your risk of type 2 diabetes, weight gain, and high cholesterol.Maltodextrin and diabetes. The glycemic index (GI) in maltodextrin is higher than in table sugar. This means that the powder can cause a spike in your blood sugar shortly after eating foods that have it. A sudden increase in blood glucose in people with insulin resistance or diabetes can be fatal.A high GI means that foods quickly enter the bloodstream and the body quickly absorbs them. This increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. Complex carbohydrates don’t pose this danger as the body takes time to absorb them. You also tend to feel fuller for a longer time.Maltodextrin and gut bacteria. Maltodextrin may affect the balance of bacteria in the gut. Research in its early stages suggests that maltodextrin may reduce the number of good bacteria and increase the harmful bacteria. This can cause damage to the intestine and increase the risk of inflammatory bowel disease. The powder may also enhance the survival of salmonella bacteria. It causes gastroenteritis and other inflammatory conditions.

Slight citrus flavor, same texture as the Tang-flavored classic
Works great, but still very gelatinous (like the Tang-flavored classic) so not something I would want in my coffee or tea. It does have a slight citrus flavor too. Not a big deal in some yogurt, but again, not something I can tolerate in a more subtle beverage.
