Finally an air conditioner thar cools the room!!!
I've gone through 3 "name brand" air conditioners over the last 3 years in my bedroom. It is a small space, so they should have all easily done the job. But not only did they not cool, they kept breaking before Summer was even over!I first bought this air conditioner for my spare bedroom/office room in 2020 when I started working from home. It has lasted and done its job in that room for 3 years and I didn't even take it out of the window during winter (which I should because I live in the northeast).I decided to go back to Amazon to look through my purchases to find the same air conditioner that I have in my office and I was so so so happy it was still available! It has been in my window for over a month and I'm thrilled with it. I need the bedroom to be FREEZING because I'm heat intolerant, and I'm telling you, this is the one!!!All 3 of the other big name brand air conditioners I bought, for some reason, were all basically all stuck in eco mode where the compressor just shuts off for a while and then turns back on randomly even when not in eco mode. This one keeps working as intended. It does everything you expect an air conditioner to do. I've also been using the dry mode, and it works to keep the room cold, too. I honestly could not be happier! When people walk into my room and say "It's freezing in here!" I say "Good!"I've read about people complaining about the noise, but I usually sleep with "white noise" on my phone and I actually enjoy the background noise. I grew up in the 90's with very old and very loud window air conditioners (the ones that lasted at least 10 years) and this one is NOWHERE near as loud as those! I'm very sensitive to sounds, and the only occasional "noise" the air conditioner makes is when the compressor does its thing and just has a low humming sound. It has a consistent smooth fan-like sound otherwise. If you want a very cold room and you have to use a window unit to get the room very cold, you are probably going to have to accept that it is going to to have some kind of consistent noise. This air conditioner is worth every penny!!! I'm so thankful!

Quiet, reliable cooling
We have used this unit for 2 months in our bedroom. It is working well without issues. It was easy to install. It is VERY quiet. It is no noisier than our ceiling fan. We did not have to increase our TV volume at all. It is really quiet. (Anyone complaining about noise has most likely not installed properly.) It cools the 256 square foot (plus 18 square foot closet plus 32 square foot bathroom) well as long as we keep the bedroom door mostly shut. (We have cats so we leave the door slightly open.) It has worked in temperatures as high as 98 degrees outside and kept the room a comfortable 70 degrees. We use the cool mode to cool down the room when we come home. The cool mode keeps the fan running while the cooling unit turns on and off.We then set it on Energy Saver mode for the rest of the night. It turns itself on every few minutes to check the temperature. When it senses the temp in the room is too high, it turns on the cooling. (Note you will hear a liquid "sloshing" sound every time it turns on. This is normal. It is the coolant flowing through the unit. It is NOT an error. You will also hear the fan running.) The fan also may just turn on to circulate the air without turning on the cooling.Overall, we are very pleased with this unit and would buy it again.

asking a bit more of it than its designed and so far its pretty good
I needed a unit that would fit in the window, and cool off my living room/kitchen-dining area, and short hallway.bigger than this is designed for, but, i was supplementing with a 5000 btu unit in my bedroomreason- house A/C died, and waiting on landlord to get it fixed.despite this unit being designed for almost half the space i was using it in, it DID manage to cool the house off, and keep it in the 70-72 degree range.i live south of Atlanta, in GA, so yea, its hot and humid.Installation is standard, nothing really new, you do have some issue with the side pieces not lining up exactly right, so that was a bit of a pain. but, a minor one overall.they give you a support if you need it ( i didnt ) plenty of taped insulation for the entire window, and overall, given the price point, with a timer, remote, various economy and normal settings, its close to a 5 star unit.i just need to see if it lasts.. and only modest amount of usage so far, so its 4 star, possibly 5..i would buy another one, at least at this point in time, given it was one of the most electrically efficient models in its class and size, and cheaper than top brands LG, Whirlpool, etc.

Koldfront AC actually works!
This little AC unit does its thing. Sounds easy right? No, I have had several small window units for my office over the past 10 years and none of them worked very well. It is a 8x15 office and insulated, inside a building. It should be easy to cool but the others did not hold up or cool well combined with wide temperature swings. This Koldfront costs a little more but it is worth it to have reliable, even quiet temperature regulation. It is is a drain less system meaning no condensate drain. The other units that were drain less, would spit water out of the condenser fan and soak my office wall. This one, somehow, gets rid of the water and I never feel or see a drop. You do have to be careful of using the remote control in that, if you make a selection with it, the unit automatically goes into eco mode which essentially cuts the compressor run time way down. This will prevent proper cooling on hot days. You just need to make sure it says "cool" after a selection instead of eco.Great little AC unit.
