Star Wars The Adventures of Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight Hardcover – Picture Book, October 7, 2014

With the new star wars movie on the horizon, and the star wars cartoons on the Disney Channel, my young son is starting to get into the Star Wars universe as I did when I was a child. Being only 5 getting him to sit through all 3 original movies proves to be challenging - but this book does a great job of conveying the overall story, through a nice hard cover book, with beautiful artwork - and encourages bed time reading - so its win win win. Highly recommend to any parent with a child who is getting into the Star Wars cult.

What an awesome book and an amazing way to introduce another generation to not only the Star Wars of our youth, but the incomparable illustrations of Ralph McQuarrie! My 4yo son is in awe and reads it daily! Thanks for another great addition to our library Tony!

4 1/2 stars overall. In fairness I have to confess I bought this solely for the McQuarrie artwork. As an illustrated storybook of Star Wars, I give it 5 stars. It's a great idea. Nicely executed. And well written. Kids are going to love it. I'm 50 and I love it. But...seeing McQuarrie's artwork cropped, time and again, was more than I could bear. So I took a star off. If I could've taken half a star off, I would have. I'm personally not fond of seeing artwork broken over a two-page spread because of the warping of the gutter. That said, I love the big size of the book. The paper is nice. The reproduction is nice. I understand why they cropped some of the artwork. It serves the storybook nicely. The spread revealing that Vader is Luke's father is especially well done (violence is mitigated, so there's no worries for your littles). I can't really see how any Star Wars fan would be disappointed. There were two McQuarrrie pieces I don't recall seeing before, and that was a treat.

This is a great book; the illustrations are lovely. My son who is 5 loves it and loves learning about the movies even though he is not quite ready to watch them yet.

I purchased this book for my 7 year old son, and he absolutely loves it. The artwork by Ralph McQuarrie, "the legendary conceptual designer behind the original trilogy" is as imagined by him prior to the filming of the movies, so Luke Skywalker does not look exactly like Skywalker as played by Mark Hamill, for instance. That said, it's a fantastic book for any Star Wars fan, especially kids who will enjoy reading the summary of the trilogy as well as looking at the artwork.

This is a nice retelling of the events of the Original Star Wars Trilogy using art by Ralph McQuarrie. As the writer sought to use as much of McQuarrie's art as possible, this book includes a brief summary of "Splinter of the Mind's Eye," since McQuarrie painted the cover. This picture book would be great for parents looking to get their children interested in Star Wars.

Item was in a condition better than expected and described.Brilliant Ralph McQuarrie artwork from the first two Star Wars movies. He really is the concept art 'old master'.

Very nice product for old star wars fans. Not as much for kids as I would have wanted but very nice. Lots of old ralph mcquarrie drawings; looks like Disney is scratching a lot on those these days.
