Great as a light, as well as a great magnifier
The all in one light, magnifier and adjustable arm are well made. It stays put when you move it to a position, and the angle of the light/magnifier angle stays at the same angle as you move it around. You can adjust the magnifier/light to pretty much any angle and it stays there. There is a lift up cover over the back of the magnifier if you just want to use it as a light. I originally bought it as a magnifier, but find that I use it much more as a light. It is brilliant either way.On the back of the light, there are adjuster touch buttons to control intensity and tone (sort of like warm white to bright white light colour of varying intensities). This a quite a long armed adjustable magnifier light. I would recommend not allowing youngsters or heavy fisted people near it. The only potential weakness I see is the point at which it pivots at the desk. Just make sure that you rotate the light about this point, rather than shoving it above the rotation axis. It does seem pretty robust though if you bear in mind this one point.A spare lens came with mine, and this is very easy to change should you want a different magnification.Overall, this is an excellent magnifier light which makes impossible things to see or read, become quite clear, and the light is fantastic too. I'm very pleased that I bought it!... oh nearly forgot... Shadows? These are none existent due to the array of LED lights that completely circle the magnifier.

nearly perfect
Lightcraft unit .As far as i know there are 4 models,My work bought me the model before this. The doplier 3 lens works well and i like the option for the doplier 5 lens, This model neck is better than the model under but has a weakness if you are reading a paper at in front of you at 45 degree you cant tilt the lens to be parallel with the paper. Good points the lens are great along with the light's different modes. As with many companies this may be found rebranded. But this design of magnifier with different makers could cost over £600. If the neck allowed the other position it would be perfect .

A quality magnifier lamp
There are two intensity settings. One for warm light and the other for cool light. Helps when viewing some things. The lenses are of a good quality as is the whole thing. Some have said it's fiddly to change the lens but I haven't found this difficult.

Not a luxury for delicate tasks
I use the more powerful lens for things like assembling electronics, gluing small items, etc. It's very useful for that: having both your hands free makes a huge difference with that kind of task (for the same reason, if you're doing electronics I really recommend getting a proper circuit board holder too, e.g. the Weller one that's shaped like an open triangular prism made of three steel rods plus two triangular plastic end plates). The angle poise arm works well and the protective covering is a nice finger-protecting addition to the old angle poise design and I think makes it easier to keep clean. Having control over the red/blue tint of the LEDs is a nice feature if you try not to expose yourself to too much blue light at night.Unlike some of the competition, this *actually does* use LEDs as described, not a fluorescent tube advertised as LEDs.Changing the lens was a bit awkward and the plastic lens holder assembly didn't quite lock into place properly. That hasn't been a real problem though, since I've only needed to change it once, and the lens is never at more than 45 degrees to the horizontal so no danger of falling out.

Great help for miniature painting.
Telescopic arm is easy adjustable and of a good quality. Light is perfect for miniature painting due to the adjustable color setting, and provides a good shade free workplace.Haven't used the magnifier a lot, but it works ok.
