Ceylon Blue Quartz is an assembled gemstone known as a triplet. Triplets have three layers. Ceylon Quartz has a crown (top) and pavilion (bottom) layer of natural crystal quartz. The third layer is a specialized combination of color and polymer middle layer. This creates the blue color reminiscent of those famous jewels. Ceylon Blue Quartz owes its name to the world famous Ceylon sapphire. Ceylon was the former name for Sri Lanka. Ceylon Blue Quartz in its final state is an assembled jewel, but it is actually high quality, naturally occurring rock crystal quartz from Minas Gerais, Brazil. Custom blended color and quartz triplet construction produce rich, saturated color.

Pretty sure the blue is painted on
On the surface, the stones are, in fact, this pretty blue just as shown. Also looks pretty blue when viewed from the bottom (just as shown.) What isn't shown however, is the side angle - clear as day. Not a trace of blue. I was going to put this into a piece of jewelry, but it looks pretty stupid if you're not seeing it straight on. Not sure if the color would stay put if I did try to wear it in jewelry... I'm annoyed that they chose to show the lovely blue top and bottom, while omitting the side-view. Don't waste your time or money on this item.
