No.
I loved the first essay and thought the rest would be a mix of research, personal writing and philosophy - but it's not. Most of the book reads like a bunch of tweets: random, faux-profound thoughts that don't relate to one another and definitely don't cohere enough to create coherent essays. Was bored and disappointed. Read Ultraluminous by Katharine Faw or Bluets by Maggie Nelson instead if you're drawn to books like this.

every paragraph of this book feels like a poem.
"Tonight I'm Someone Else" is the first book I've read by Chelsea Hodson, who i came across by accident, while tweet stalking (maybe?) important people in the NYC literary scene. the book is a collection of essays. in the loosest sense, you could lump her in with the new, contemporary female writer, ala Melissa Broder and Darcie Wilder. and i mean that as a compliment. like, this elevated version of Twitter and blog writing. a more nuanced, poetic, and long-form approach to the self-deprecation, narcissism, depression, pop culture, and obsession with fleeting love and young men who are both desirable and 'problematic.' it's all middle-class specificity and desire for something more. but written so, so beautifully. every paragraph of this book feels like a poem. even when the story is about being twelve and knowing that you are in love with a member of the Backstreet Boys.

a riveting portrait of the mind
Chelsea Hodson's Tonight I'm Someone Else is a riveting portrait of what it means to think and live behind different "masks" of ourselves. Truly first-rate nonfiction.

Trust Me, Don’t buy
I usually love books like this. I did my best to give the author a chance and being 22 I thought it wouldn’t be to immature for me as others say. The truth is any one with common sense will quickly become annoyed by the authors reckless behavior and ignorant explanations. Her words aren’t poetic but, pathetic and her writing feels as if every word on the page is trying to convince you of the lies she tells herself. It’s bad. Really bad.

Lovely. Intimate. Poetic.
A great book by an intriguing author. I’m glad I upgraded to the audio book. Ms. Hodson’s voice is haunting and rings like music in my ears.

Entertaining and Beautiful!
One of my favorite reads this year. A definite page-turner.

Felled
Stunning. I love to be wrecked by a good book and this one did just that. One of my fave essay collections: eloquent, evocative, moody, original. Thank you, Chelsea Hodson.

Poor quality
The media could not be loaded. The book was brand new but in poor condition. The page edges were all rough and uneven. Looked messy for the price it cost.

Disappointed
It was an okay book. Boring, just like the main character. The only thing that was interesting is the riffled pages and the cover but in general wouldn't recommend. It's an easy and fast read but you don't get anything form the book.

Arrived damaged and ripped
Brand new book arrived looking more damaged than books I’ve owned for ten years and read ten times over.
