Fantastic printer
I'd been looking for a portable, enclosed printer for a while due to having highly inquisitive toddlers, limited time (print in the kitchen at night after the kids are asleep and pack away in the morning) and space. Had a few disasters with open-sided printers (CR-10S clone and a few other rep-rap affairs) that failed due to not really being built for portability, prone to failing if not in a stable environment (breezes from opening doors, adhesion, stability, etc) although this is down to my own setup rather than inherent to that type of printer.I came across the Qidi Tech 1 and it looked ideal. Handles for moving, fully enclosed and good reviews for both print quality and support. It arrived really quickly and took around 20 minutes to unbox and set up. It arrives almost completely built so there's little in the way of setup required (removing packaging tape and blocks from moving part, attaching some accessories and the perspex windows/lid). Has a complete toolkit with a few spares included with it meaning that I didn't have to use any of my own.Levelling was a breeze, still manual adjustment of the alignment dials under the build plate to do it but the included programme on the flash drive walks you through it and moves the print head to the different points to level. 2 pieces of robust flexi-plastic are also included to set the distance between bed and nozzle correctly.I used the on-board filament loading option through the menu and fed the included PLA reel into the head and was printing within 30 minutes of opening the box. Qidi supplies it's own modified version of Cura that is really easy to use and is pre-populated with settings for all of the Qidi printers and the common filament profiles. Print came out great and adhered to the bed with no problem. Marked difference from the hour-or-two setup of the CR10S and trial-and-error with tape, glue stick and hairspray, not to mention bed material types, to help with adhesion.A full reel each (1kg) of PLA and ABS was included so I had enough for several prints straight out the box. I use the preset standard profile in the Qidi Print software and in 99% of cases only use the tree support option without issue. After a few continuous weeks of use, I really cannot recommend this printer enough for anyone in a similar situation to myself. The only issue I've had is with adhesion being 'too' good on more delicate builds. Even in this case though, I was able to get in touch with Qidi support about the possibility of changing the bed for the one from the X-PRO (magnetic with spring-steel removable plate) and they were able to send one out that same day.It is a relatively small build area (I have my eye on the Qidi X-MAX if it comes back to our shores) but this, for me, is a well-received trade-off given the quality and reliability of the machine itself.Love it.

For a beginner I love it
Not much assembly required.Easy to set up.Easy to understand the instructions on how to use it, how to level the build plate. The filament rolls that come with it seem to be good quality.I had a bit of trial and error at the start regarding temperatures and plate temps, but it was easy to get the right settings sorted. The glue stick that came with it was hit and miss when I was using the ABS filament, and print support beds kept becoming unstuck, but I switched to using hair spray and haven't had a problem since. As a total noob to printing, this printer is all I could ask for, any questions I needed answered seem to have been asked and answered before on a number of easy to find internet Forums with a simple Google search.I'm having lots of fun with this, I love it.

A very sturdy, well built machine backed up with fantastic technical support.
I am new to 3D printing and had spent months reading up about and watching videos on the subject. So I was prepared to take the next step and buy a machine. I was sorely tempted to build my own from kit, it would have been much cheaper, but many individual reviews mentioned that settings could move between prints and cause wastage. So I decided to bite the bullet and spend more. My first impressions when I opened the box were that the machine looked very well built, it was easy to assemble and the instructions were clear and well illustrated. The English text did suffer a little in translation, so a little thought is sometimes needed. The supplied manual on the SD card is very basic, so a fair amount of external research is needed in order to learn the new terms, however when you realise that the supplied software has a pop-up explanation for the effect of each command things become much easier. The QIDI software that came with the machine needed to be updated and doing this improved things still further. There was also a well thought out small tool kit and a pallet knife included in the kit.Unfortunately it soon became apparent that all was not well, and prints were coming out with steps in them, furthermore the machine seemed quite violent in operation. I contacted technical support, and was immediately impressed by their keenness to help, and over the following few days I received instruction and videos in order to identify the fault. When their technician (Jack) knew the cause, replacement parts were quickly sent free of charge, together with apologies and reimbursement for wasted material. I really cannot praise the team at QIDI enough, and I am delighted that I chose this route. The only very minor thing that I would change about the machine would be the addition of a USB slot in the front panel, in place of the SD card reader. Otherwise this machine is near perfect! The machine now runs smoothly and I have not had a failure since. I am using it primarily to produce busts of historic figures to enhance a display that I am building, but have discovered that there is a vast repository of fun and useful things out there, just waiting to be discovered.

Great printer.
Top quality printer. Fanatastic rapid support also. I had an issue with the build plate and it was rectified immediately. I only gave 4 starts for adhesion as some abs prints were still warping, but that is probably down to me lol. This printer also works great with Simplify 3D for those who have it. The software Qidi supply with the printer is very good also but I had a 3hr reduction from a 11hr print down to an 8hr print (same quality) using Simplify3d. Overall, after previously owning Flashforge, CR10 and GeeetechA30 printers, I honestly think I will be sticking with Qidi from now on.
