Cuts carpet like butter
I used to cut the carpet on a recent remodel for a bathroom and it worked great. I then used to cut surplus carpet for my dogs doghouse. I used to struggle with scissors, but this does the work in 1/10 the time. I would recommend to wear cut resistant gloves as it could do some serious damage to your skin. I would recommend this product.

Will cut pile carpet easily
Pro's1. Metal construction and comes with 3 blades (Internal storage)2. Handle design good but not great3. Blades very sharp4. Cutting carpet you must cut from the backing side5. Worth the money for the two small jobs I had. Larger jobs buy something else!Con's1. Blades stuck together and very easy to cut yourself prying them apart.2. Blade stays in position but can not retract for safety. (Handle with great care)3. Inserting blade into cutting position very futz y. Won't stay put as you balance handle trying to align two halves. (small magnet here would hold the blade in position. Hint hint!)4. Handle construction is metal but could use aligning pins. Easy to assemble off center. See item 3 above.5. Blades dull very fast. Two 10ft cuts dulled the first blade. Last few cuts took several passes to complete.

Ripped right through
After a flood, I couldn’t cut out carpet with my box cutter. I bought this because of the reviews and it did the job very well. Ripped right through my carpet!

This tool made sure I stood out and got more hours
This tool is probably the reason I got so many hours during one of the conventions I helped set up. The boss was really impressed an apprentice like me had one so he kept me working. I do get nervous about storing the blades in the handle so I really crank on the D ring when I change a blade. Don’t want the Bloody Mary to claim another victim, hah. Overall awesome tool and made cutting carpet around columns and doorways much easier.

Works as advertized
I had to cut areas of an existing carpeted space to build a 4' wide hallway with an 8' x 6' walk-in closet and two 4' closets. I had never done any carpet work before and I felt that this tool maybe helpful with cutting and re-tucking the carpet around the new walls and doorways (4 new doors). I found that a standard "Stanley" utility knife with a sharp blade was easier to use and safer because you can adjust the blade and hide the blade whenever you set it down. As far as tucking, I found that the Roberts stair tool (which I also purchased) worked best for tucking because it is bigger, heavier, and allows you to tuck faster - you have to use more brute force to do a quick clean-looking job (I also purchased a plastic stair tool for tucking, but found that the polished metal Roberts stair tool worked best).

Way better than a box cutter
A box cutter cannot substitute for this knife. This is WAY better. You have to keep a nearly new cutting edge on it. Carpet is a tough cut!
