Reminiscing
The book came much quicker than I expected which was great. I've just re-read the original Jaws book which ignited my interest in re-reading the second novel (although by a different author). I love buying books second hand via charity shops or second hand book shops but, obviously can't do that at the moment - opening the packaging and the aroma of old and second hand was just like stepping into a second hand book shop! Not to everyone's taste but I loved it ... and, of course I love the story as it follows on really well from the first!

Jaws 2....The original version!
What you get with this extremely well written novelization is the original version of Jaws 2 that was completely scrapped when the original director and screenwriter were removed. I think this works perfectly fine as a story but you can perhaps see why the producers closed this version down and started from scratch with original Jaws screenwriter Carl Gottleib. Various elements from that original version still made it's way into the version that made it's way to the screen. You'll read this and recognize certain scenes in the film. The majority though is all new. Darker and more serious in tone. Apparently one of the reasons why original director John Hancock was removed was because his dailies were of a grim Amity struggling after the shark attacks from the original film. This novelization of that first screenplay reflects that. It's actually quite close to the Peter Benchley original in some ways and perhaps if HE had written a follow up book it would of resembled this. The original film is better than it's book but this book didn't make it to the screen so it's almost like a spin off of sorts from the much maligned and deservedly so series that followed the unrepeatable greatness of the first film. Jaws 2 will always be the best sequel but that's not too difficult. This book is way better than the two films that came after it and stands as a pretty good read by itself from an alternate time line. As close as you'll get to a spin off continuation novel featuring Chief Brody and co. As a huge fan I read this with a big smile on my face because if you've never read it it's something new in the Jaws world - despite being forty years old! Highly recommended and a fine book in it's own right!

Just When You Thought It Was Safe .... ..
A great read. A worthy follow up to Peter Benchley's classic, smash hit book 'Jaws'. Searls's well written and engrossing book is exciting and spine chilling. Every shark appearance is menacing and genuinely frightening. Utterly believable, 'Jaws 2' has characters that you feel for and come to care about. There are some stunning set pieces. If only the water skiing scene with the tragic Dee and the 'young technician' - so great and vivid in the book - had featured in the movie version this way. A tie-in book that thrills and chills at the same time. Searls creates unforgetable moments that linger in the imagination, long after you have read the book. An excellent horror novel choice!!!!

One of the best thrillers I've read
What a brilliant surprise this turned out to be. I simply don't care that the book and the film aren't identical. Searls is absolutely at the top of his game resulting in a totally gripping thriller and a worthy follow up to Benchley's classic. Definitely one to be savoured again at random intervals.

A must for Jaws fans!!!
Did this the wrong way around....watched the films then read the books!!!! Loved the film so had high expectations and wasn’t disappointed, character profiles were well built and this book was a very fluid sequel to the original legendary ‘Jaws’ in my opinion. I absolutely loved it!!!!!
