Well worth the price for its capability
This thing is great, if you have a device that is RS 232 and you want to be able to use it over an ethernet IP network you should buy one of these and try it out. They’re not that expensive and odds are it will work with your device. I have been able to take devices that are quite old and do not support any form of ethernet communication but do support cereal communication by modem This thing is great, if you have a device that is RS 232 and you want to be able to use it over an ethernet IP network you should buy one of these and try it out. They’re not that expensive and odds are it will work with your device. I have been able to take devices that are quite old and do not support any form of ethernet communication but do support serial communication by modem and actually talk to them using this device and their older software. It’s stable and works well. And I was very pleased to pay this low price for that capability.

Yet to be defined
I was disappointed to discover that there were no instructions included in the packaging. The device has a website listed that may have instructions.I am eager to find time to install and test the device on my network/ KPC2 Packet controller.I will upgrade my listing when I have had a chance to play with it.

Works great, a bit difficult to setup
I love these! I this for the price they are awesome. The only reason I cannot give it 5 stars is setup is a bit of pain. I read about that before I bought it and thought "I'm smart and technically inclined. I'll have no problem". Alas that was not the case. The English translation in the software have some problems and there are quirks (such as each device showing up 4 times) you have to learn how to circumvent. Having that said, once setup, these things are great! It is really nice to have RS232 access across the house without cables.

Excellent product. Lots of options. Default config not optimal
Very configurable device. If you just want to telnet to it - and communicate to the serial port, set it to TCP SERVER mode and set the local port to 23. Set the IP address of the device and leave everything else alone. Should work fine.

NOT a good choice for Cisco console ports
1) The device is NOT a good choice for Cisco console ports.2) The device offers five operational modes: UDP Client, TCP client, UDP server, TCP server, and HTTPD Client.3) The 'TCP Server mode' injects extra CR/LF which prevents login on a Cisco device. I tried Putty and Microsoft Telnet to no avail. There are no settings on the hardware serial-to-ethernet for removing echo or setting the CR/LF.4) However, I was able to access the Cisco console port using the device in "TCP Client mode" while using netcat application on the laptop. Basically, the serial-to-ethernet had to establish the connection to my machine.Settings that I used for Client Mode are:A) On the serial-to-ethernet hardware:a. set "work mode" to: TCP Clientb. set "Remote Server Address" to: {IP address of your computer that is running the netcat application}c. set the "Remote Port Number" to: 4040B) On the computer with the netcat application:a. In a command prompt, type: netcat -n -v -l -p 4040
