Kamancheh is an Iranian bowed string instrument. Kamancheh is in fact a mixture of modern violin and cello. Although considerably smaller in size comparing to cello. It's sound range is the broadest among Persian instrument. Kamancheh is a fundamental part of any Persian ensemble. Primitive versions of this instrument were played during the Roman and Byzantine Empires (over 1000 years ago). Nowadays the instrument is played throughout the world.
