A wonderful necessity to every coin collector.
The so-called "Blue Book". has been a mainstay of coin enthusiasts for years (ie Numismatists). It is the natural companion to the "Red Book" which is used to find the overall value of a coin. The Blue Book informs the coin owner of the value of any coin if they wished to sell to a dealer. I have been a Life Member of the ANA (American Numismatic Association) since 2000, but I have been an avid collector since the 1980s. After moving to California, I discovered a few albums of coins I never sold, so when I found this book for sale at a low price I could not resist. At one time, coin collecting was called "the rich man's hobby". Yet, even a young person on a budget can find most interesting coins hidden in the change you receive even at places such as McDonalds. In 1989, I won a bet with my friend when I ate breakfast at a local McDonalds in Virginia a few days each week. After a almost a year, I was able to nearly complete a Lincoln Cent folder with Lincoln Cents from 1955 to 1989 including the mints in Philadelphia and Denver. Lincolns from San Francisco were also circulated until 1974 (after 1974 they were only used as Proofs available only from the San Francisco Mint on special order). Surprisingly, even the lowly Lincoln penny can be worth more than you might expect.

Nice Ball Park for Coin sellers, valuation limited
Buyers tended to offer slightly lower prices than those listed in the blue book. Often the spot silver/gold price is the offered value for post 1920 coins. Looking to classify a coin as "Gem" quality is very subjective and the highest mint state ratings are rarely achieved, in the view of the buyers. Face value is the norm for non silver post 1940 coins, and few buyers are interested in post 1954 commemoratives and post 1964 mint & proof sets. May only realize face value, or the spot metal price.

Love my coin books
Just what I needed. Love the coin books as well as the history and knowledge you can learn from the articles. The info on the value of your coins and what to look for when grading your investment is all there. FYI, this book, the companion book and a new loop were less than what my local coin stores wanted for just one book alone! As well, did not have to drive to the store and waste my gas and time. I use to never shop on line but my neighbor got me started. I guess at 72 years old you can still teach an old dog new tricks. Buy them if you need them on line.

A heads-up basic even for non-collectors with piggy banks
We got this book mainly because we found many old coins among the personal belongings of a close relative who died. And even though they were not particularly valuable, it was easy to identify the coins and learn about them per this guide. Personally, my favorite part of the book is where they tell you the current value of older, out-of-date coin guide books. Turns out that we also found a few of those, and they were more valuable than the coinage they described!

Great product. My grandson & I use this book ...
Great product. My grandson & I use this book to sort through my coins before rolling them. We use another book too, and refer to both of them. My grandson wasn't really interested when we had to look up prices on the internet. But, it's so much easier to find coins on the book, so he is very interested in helping me. I can't think of any downsides. You will be happy with this purchase. It's very easy to use.

Gives You All You Need
I'm in the process of selling some old coins. This book tells you, coin by coin, date by date, the approximate value of what to expect to receive for each coin. This book is complete, is very easy to read and understand, and has some goodillustrations. And the price is very reasonable. All-in-all, a thumbs-up!

Good to price but hard to understand by non-collectors; must know what you already have
Great current book, will help with some classifications and pricing for selling to private collectors. It helps though to know what you have, or use a coin shop to determine each coins make, etc before trying to look it up. So many things seem alike!
