Kudos to Video2Brain for After Effects CS6 Training DVD
Being fairly new to After Effects I really needed a training resource that would start at ground zero but not speak to me like I was a 2nd grader. This DVD delivers in fantastic fashion. It covers all the bases and is structured in such a way that one can navigate through the course sequentially or view particular areas of interest individually. There are plenty of work files if you desire to follow along. Though not completely necessary, I did find it helpful use the work files to create a more hands-on experience. If you have two monitors you'll love having the course on one monitor while you work along on the second monitor.I was very pleased to see that Video2Brain enlisted the expertise of two top-notch After Effects experts, Angie Taylor And Todd Kopriva. I can't imagine anyone being more knowledgeable about the capabilities and use of After Effects than these two (except perhaps Andrew Kramer from Videocopilot.net). Both of them were easy to follow, though I must admit that Angie's video lessons were a bit more engaging. Todd tended to talk in bursts and pauses, but that REALLY did not detract from the value of his lesson content. Speaking of the content, they cover all the important basics and then some. With this DVD as my foundation, I now have a much better understanding of the more advanced techniques discussed in the various tutorials I find online (youtube, vimeo, videopilot.net, etc). The 10 hours of training on this DVD create the ideal jumping off point for anyone looking to become proficient with After Effects.I'm not sure if Video2Brain offers a DVD for Premiere Pro CS6, but if so, I'm all over it. If it's anything like this After Effects course, it'll be worth the investment.

Usefulness questionable
My son and I have been watching this diligently, and are disappointed. Either Adobe After Effects is not useful at all, or this video does not show what After Effects is really useful for. The videos seem to lack pedagogical ability. They delve into details, but a logical thread is missing. Unknown, technical terms are frequently used: " Plug ins, cash into Rams, Rendering, Color Bit Depth, Bending, Gradients, Running Scripts, Rotorscoping, Interlacing, etc." It is frustrating to not know where the narrators are going, what the point of the specific lesson might be, and finally why the finished product was worth all this work? We are still wondering why bother with After Effects. We have yet to see what worthwhile product might come out of it.I find that free youtube videos, although sometimes hard to understand because of the accents, do a comparatively decent job of showing what After Effects really is for and how to use it, in laymen terms. From this video, I conclude that After Effects is apparently not at all made for quality animation, but rather seems to be an incredibly complicated editing program with very limited usefulness and questionable results.

At first I was dubious...
and the rumored "six month learning curve" for AE6 is NOT a joke. AE6 is a complicated piece of software, and even "basics" require a LOT of setup.Given that, Angie Taylor and Todd Kopriva are genial and often engaging trainers for this high-power creation beast. Both have been actively involved in using AE since the early version, and they are both knowledgeable about the "innards" and uses of this modern-production mainstay. The reference ciips are thorough and useful, and I highly recommend this course. You won't match a college course with it, but the first time you add your own text to a Videohive/Envato template, you just saved twice the cost of the course.Recommended!

Okay
It was a great idea if you want to learn something, but the downloadable files wouldn't download and no one could help me out with it so I eventually had to send it back.

It is what it is meant to be.
I have started working through the lessons, it's well laid out and easy to follow. Looking forward to learning all the ins and outs of After Effects.

I don't like it
I wouldn't recommend this product. Doesn't have a lot of detail. Not worth the price. Ok, for less but would prefer more substance.

Swiftly equips you with skills to navigate AE
This DVD has 10 hours' worth of tutorials that give you a very well-rounded introduction to AE. They're split up into logical subject chapters, and within those they are broken into bitesize videos of 5-10 mins length, in which either Angie or Todd (who are both clear, engaging hosts) will show you how a particular part of AE's interface works or what tools you use to achieve a particular technique. The DVD also includes project files for you to do the steps they're doing for yourself in AE. They're a little picture-in-picture 'watch while you work' mode but the best thing to do would be to load the vids on a tablet and have AE open on your computer.AE is really an amazing piece of software, with a huge range of tools at your disposal. These videos cover a good breadth of topics and often do so in quite a lot of detail. I was a total newbie to AE, but after watching this I felt conversant enough in all the tools AE offers to dive in and do a huge variety of things. I've since made a few quite complicated 2D animated videos. This won't tell you everything there is to know bout AE naturally (there's a world of online tutorials out there to help you though) but it will render you a capable AE user by the end of it.

Nice presenters, but a big tease.
Good to give you an idea about what you can do, and perhaps if you know what you can do it will give you some help, but as a beginner, forget it unless you just want to see what you can do. Although the whole set up is nice and clean, there is too much talk about things that you will be able to do without getting to the nitty gritty and show you how to do it. Probably better for more advanced users who want a little help in getting ideas. The presenters are nice and seems to know their stuff, but perhaps would be better to beginner, middle and advanced versions with projects that build as you go between the levels and possible even have 2 topic ranges, Movies after effects and animation after effects.
