Chrome Neon Jesus

Got the chance to see them perform last year in Lawrence, Kansas with Thrice. They have such a nostalgic sound, this record is really great and can play over/over & not get tired of it.

The debut album by Teenage Wrist pushes all the right buttons. If you enjoy Swervedriver and Slowdive this album is for you. The sound may be borrowed but is remarkably fresh here.

Promising debut which at times recalls early nineties shoegaze bands like Catherine Wheel, Ride, and My Bloody Valentine, but also nineties alternative rock like Smashing Pumpkins and even Third Eye Blind (the melodicism and vocal delivery). You can also hear similarities to newer bands like Nothing, Title Fight, Superheaven, and Citizen which isn't a bad thing. Their first release was the fantastic "Dazed" EP which came out in 2015. I had been waiting for a full length album ever since then, and I was pleased when I heard the band had signed with Epitaph records.The first half of "Chrome Neon Jesus" is very strong with catchy singles like 'Dweeb', 'Swallow', 'Stoned, Alone', and 'Supermachine'. In a just world where modern rock radio wasn't so controlled by Clear Channel/Iheartradio and focus groups (like it is now_ songs like these would be lighting up the charts. It's a very enjoyable album overall and a promising debut from one of the better guitar bands to come along in the last ten years or so.

Followed this band since I first heard their original recording of stoned, alone, instantly hooked can't explain how mad it is to see them on the list for festivals like Leeds/reading but this album explains alot, definitely worth the purchase. Look forward to the next album!
