He also covers a lot of very high end information not generally available to the public and gives readers a solid basis to ask questions and make sure they get sensible answers. The only caveat is that this book was written a good number of years ago and science/technology have made leaps and bounds in the meantime, but as I've said, this book provides the base to be able to learn more about specific subjects (eg, metallurgy or composites) and be able to make sense of the new information. I highly recommend this book for any Mechanical Engineering college student, as the it contains very practical information that was missing from my curriculum.
