Getting to know Christopher
The only disappointment (seriously a minor gripe because it is still just as adorable) is the book jacket and hard cover is not as shown on here (which is how I remember the now lost hardcover books I had as a little dude). The only story set missing is "The Return to Hundred Acre Wood" if your are really after all of it.I bought this primarily for me (23 years old) and secondly for my yet to be but very very soon nephew. The book is beautiful and has a great weighted feeling. I've only really known Pooh and the gang so I'm really excited to get to know Christopher Robin. It's colored in the most pleasant way and all the illustrations that are beside the stories are in Black and White. This book is gorgeous and I'm going to keep this in the family for a generation. This is not the disney version but the real deal! :)I also recommend the Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet for those who like a bit of philosophy, humor, and childhood. It displays a slight spin on Pooh that you would have missed, even if you looked for it. That's somewhat of what Taoism and its wisdom. Milne's poems capture childhood
The poems in this book are funny and poignant, and truthfully, stick with me through life even more than the Winnie the Pooh stories. When we were Very Young and Now we are Six belong on every bookshelf, whether you are or have small children or are an adult remembering childhood.

Excellent book
This book consists of the original books "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six" by A. A. Milne, bound together. I have always liked the poetry, and believe it is worth five stars, as are the inkline illustrations by Ernest Shepard (who Milne though was the best artist for the job, and who drew Christopher Robin from life). Several pictures in full color, also by Shepard, grace this book. (The original line drawings are from the 1920s, the color pictures from the 1950s.) In particular I like the physical quality of the book. It is beautifully printed on high quality paper which is rugged enough for young children, and it is sewn in signatures, which makes the book both easy to open and strong enough to withstand many readings. Sadly, I cannot say the same about the boxed set of four Pooh books, whose printing is mediocre, and whose binding is a poor glue job. Given the choice between the boxed set on the one hand, and "The World of Pooh" and "The World of Christopher Robin" on the other, I would recommend choosing the "World" books.

Good product, poor service
The book is in great condition, just like I remembered from my childhood. However, it took almost 2 months for the product to ship when it was originally purchased to be delivered within the week. This was accompanied by no communication from the seller and absolutely no help at all from Amazon Fulfillment services. Luckily the timing was not a huge issue for us, however be aware. If you are ordering and have a deadline, I would suggest finding another option.

A classic that should be read aloud to every child
This is another of my favorite books that includes the two books "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six". I loved hearing these poems as a child, and I enjoyed reading them to my own children. I just hunted down a used copy of this edition with the E H Shepard illustrations for my grand daughter who is celebrating her first Christmas. It's a pity that this book is no longer being printed. To fully enjoy this book, you must hear it read aloud. The language is lilting and rhythmic and ignites the imagination. The poems echo for a long time in the heart and mind, even today. One wonders with Christopher Robin, ....and how to amuse them today?

A lovevly read to grandchildren
A delightful offering from a bygone era that has stood the test of time. The poems sound fresh still and although may seem dated to some young readers (Changing Guard at Buckingham Palace for instance) . The themes are timeless. Young listeners enjoy the cadence and can easily relate to many of the themes. Should be part of every grandparents bag of readers to their young listeners.

1958 Was a Good Year for CR
You already know you want this book for your grandchild and you might not like the new ones from China. This 1958 edition is the one you grew up on. Look for it, save money, get a better product. This seller was excellent.
