Realtek RTL8812BU USB3 Wireless Adapter works great, installs easily and is inexpensive!
Realtek RTL8812BU USB3 Wireless Adapter works great and was super easy to install. That is, just connected antenna that comes with the USB3 WIFI dongle and plugged it into my 7 year old Dell XPS 8700 Desktop PC. My windows 10 system recognized the adapter and boom, it was ready to go. It comes with a small disk with driver(s); however, I did not have to use it. Widows automatically found & installed drivers. In Device Manager I disabled the existing on-board WiFi adapter which is only single band 2.4 Ghz. The Realtek adapter recognized my available networks and I connected to the 5 Ghz. Performed "Google Internet Speed Test" : download speed is now more than five times faster.... Upload speed is approx. ten times faster. { close to 300 Mbps download & just under 200 Mbps Upload } Another nice feature is that the dongle w/ antenna attached can be plugged into a vertical or horizontal USB port & takes up very little space. Extremely easy and very inexpensive upgrade! Highly recommend!

It Works. But....
So far so good. Picks up the 5ghz signal from the first floor Comcast Router. No problems in my 3rd floor office studio.9/24 it died, but I bought another brand and it Also died! I messed with the settings and got it working. Then, remembered I kept this one and hadn't thrown it away yet and plugged it in again and it worked right away!So it was something in my computer, NOT this Wifi gizmo. I was using a cable to my Sony Camera that seemed to throw everything out of whack. Using their picture grabbing software and USB 3 and DaVinchi Resolve 18.6 into my Win 10 HP Workstation. It's done it more than once now. It locks up my network settings.

Great coverage and implementation!
Was upgrading a client's wireless N router to support AC protocol and bought this to upgrade their existing 150 megabit dongle. This setup allows them to reach their subscribed maximum broadband speed and Windows 10 has the drivers built in.

Flaky on Linux (continually connects / disconnects)
I bought this for the Linux support, but it keeps flaking out. My old Panda (2Ghz) doesn't have this problem. I'm going to try one of the Panda 5Ghz dongles and see how that goes.

I am dissapointed
I have been using an Edimax USB WiFi adapter to connect my Raspberry Pi 5 to the 5G signal of my router. Right now the signal for the on board Broaddcom WiFi is in the range of 65 to 68%, it bounces around, and the Edimax is 63 to 67%. When I remove the Edimax from the USB port, and plug the Realtek RTL8812BU USB Wireless Adapter into the USB port, the Broadcom signal is unaffected, but instead of improving, which I expected with it's antenna, it was only 53 to 54%, actually less than the built in on board Broadcomm WiFi.The Realtek RTL8812BU USB Wireless Adapter works, but at least the one that I have does not work well. My signal strength varies through the day, and sometimes The Broadcom cannot cut the mustard, but the Realtek RTL8812BU USB Wireless Adapter is not the solution. I am disapointed.
