Review: Excellent product. Works as advertised. - This product is excellent, and it gives me results that go beyond my wildest expectations. Before Grizzly Mountain, I had tried chemical dyes but had to stop due to the itching they caused after some time. Grizzly Mountain causes me no irritation whatsoever. I use the dark brown, mixed in with some natural brown, and the effect is awesome, very natural. I dye my beard once a week (it’s very short). I start with the base (I let it sit for 30 minutes and then rinse under the shower) and follow on with the dye (35-40 minutes, then ditto). It’s sort of a weekly evening ritual, kind of meditative even. Given the results, the time investment is totally worth it, a no brainer for me. Here’s how I apply it. I mix the dye with water close to boiling point (I make sure that the paste doesn't become watery; it should have the consistency of thick ketchup); apply the paste with the brush provided in the packet; and work the paste into the beard evenly with my fingers. I then cover the beard with cling wrap, so the paste won't dry out and will easily come off under the shower. The longer one lets the dye sit (not the base), the darker the beard gets. I haven’t experienced the “green beard” effect some have written about and which is mentioned in the instructions on the box. It did not give me an allergic reaction and I love the just mix with water idea but the positives end there. After the really long twenty minutes this dries into something close to concrete. The mess it creates is monumental. Hair that doesn't lay totally flat on the skin isn't coloured. It's impossible to cover hair on the chin. After all those efforts... the hair goes green for two days. Then orange for another two days. Then it goes back to grey. It doesn't look natural it looks stupid. I will also try the dark brown before I go back to irritated skin but normal looking beard. A: Hi,

It all depends on the length and thickness of your beard. If you have a small goatee, customers have reported around 10-15 applications pack. If you have a huge ZZ Top style beard, you’ll get 1 or 2 applications.

**Q: How do you use this product? There is the base and the dye, do you mix together? Use separately? The leaflet provided does not explain.**
A: Just asked my partner, he says you mix them together with a bit of water to make a paste thick enough for it to stick on your beard without it plopping off - bit thicker than hair dye. He also leaves it on about half an hour. Make sure you leave it on long enough as sometimes when he doesn’t it dyes the grey bits purple rather than black! I find it quite funny but him not so much 😁

**Q: Is it ok to get the dye on your skin? Will it stain your skin black?**
A: Yes it doesn’t dye skin, although of course just put it on your beard. I’d also recommend trying one evening and experimenting how much you need and whether you need the base etc. Also use a little warm water not hot and mix the product. You’ll have to use what you mix, don’t keep it as it’s organic it will go bad.

**Q: How long do I leave it after washing out the neutral base mix before I apply the black mix?**
A: I applied after few minutes.  For me the product left beard purple, try at your own risk.

This product is excellent, and it gives me results that go beyond my wildest expectations. Before Grizzly Mountain, I had tried chemical dyes but had to stop due to the itching they caused after some time. Grizzly Mountain causes me no irritation whatsoever. I use the dark brown, mixed in with some natural brown, and the effect is awesome, very natural. I dye my beard once a week (it’s very short). I start with the base (I let it sit for 30 minutes and then rinse under the shower) and follow on with the dye (35-40 minutes, then ditto). It’s sort of a weekly evening ritual, kind of meditative even. Given the results, the time investment is totally worth it, a no brainer for me. Here’s how I apply it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A natural product that works

I began using JFM but have sensitive skin. I had slight burn after a few uses so decided to stop immediately. I looked at a few natural items and saw this brand available on Amazon. I initially used the dark brown. It didn’t work well. I was getting orange colour on my grey hairs and only lasting a couple of days. I was about to give up but thought I would try the black dye. This has worked great with no irritation. With this product, it took some practice and trial and error to get things the way I wanted. I have a relatively short beard (number 6 on my Remington beard trimmer) and I colour it every 5 days. It’s not as straight forward as chemical dyes but I have found it works just as well. The first thing to mention is that this does take longer. If you need the base then it can take up to an hour whereas the JFM only stayed on for 2 minutes. I find it best to use this around doing something else as opposed to just sitting around waiting to wash it off. The second thing to mention is that this does not work like chemical dyes. This will only colour what it is physically in contact with. Therefore, you have to make sure you cannot see any hair sticking out of the application. It has to be thick with the beard fully underneath the mixture. I find that my beard darkens immediately but continues to get darker over the next 8 hours. I don’t personally get any of the green or purple mentioned. This colour is a dark black and darker than my natural beard. There is no guarantee that the dye will work. You may need to use the base. The dye has not worked for me without the base. I have done some trial and error and I can mix my base in with the black and use it in one application. This is not how they recommend it is used but works for me and I half the time. It works better if you use the base and colour separately but I’m happy with the result and I prefer to have a few grey hairs here and there as it looks more natural. If I use separately then I can get 100% black beard. One of the great things about this compared to chemical products is that this does not colour your skin. I have no irritation at all. I previously had dry skin under my beard but using this product has meant I no longer have dry skin. It’s also worth noting that this product requires a lot less time on the beard than similar natural products which say they need to be on for anywhere between 4 hours to overnight. All in all very happy with this and I like that it is natural.
