Buy one!
A superb product but the overflow outlet is too close to the product back wall that it cannot accept the standard overflow pipe if the cabinet it is installed into has anything other than a 2mm thickness back panel. Anyhow it's just so much easier to use some of the supplied flexible discharge pipe, if any is spare, to make the overflow Into 1.5 inch waste pipe reduced to 22mm standard overflow solvent weld, but adds few turns of electrical insulating tape to increase the flexible pipe diameter to a secure push fit into the 22mm socket. It's now setup correctly with an included uk engineer site commissioning visit. I should have fitted one years ago. What a time saving product and everything is sparkling clean every day.

Go for it!
Good Built Quality and cheaper than other competitors in the market. At first I was wondered by the price of Harvey water softeners as you will find them as the only product when search for best water softeners in Google. This one is cheaper and does it jobs like others.Negatives1. It is quite heavy (but its good quality) and tall. Need to be more compact2. The inlet and outlet hose supplied with it is too hard and not flexible which made by DIY installation much more tough.3. The flavour is not that goodPositives1. Go for it if you know basic plumbing2. Well softened water and softness can also be adjusted

22mm connection kit is a PITA, but otherwise a good system.
Fitted this myself as an average DIYer. Needed to replace some of the 22mm connectors though - they include FlowMasta internal 22->15mm adapters, which are to put it generously, complete dog toffee. I couldn't get them to seal and replaced with 15mm isolation valves and 15mm double check valve. Kept the 22mm hoses though. Happy with the resulting water and salt usage. Been in use now for about 2-3 months without issue.

Replaced our faulty unit, easy install and all the water fittings and 22mm high flow pipes included
easy to set up with included water testing kit supplied, it also has a low salt alarm to remind you to fill it up.it takes salt tablets or blocks. The only thing different from our last softener is the overflow pipe which is 3/4 overflow solid pipe not flexible (im guessing it wouldn't freeze up like a thinner flexible pipe).Had to call technical as motor wire had come off and they were brilliant, quick to answer the phone and knew the product so all sorted. Very happy so far with really soft water and using a lot less soap and shampoo (first shower with it connected and used way too much shampoo :-).

Once installed very effective. Some minor design features could be better.
If you are reading this, you have two decisions to make.Firstly, do you need a water softener? There's lots of advice out there; simply, if you have hard water and you can afford the cost and space, do it. And yes, this machine works well to soften water.Secondly, is this the right product for you? I bought it as it has a reasonable capacity (each recharge lasts our family of 4 four days or so; a tank of salt about 6 weeks), and 22mm pipes to maintain excellent flow and pressure - which it does. So, it fulfills these main requirements very well, and I am entirely happy with the device. Customer services are also very helpful (I disconnected the circuit board to install, but it wasn't clear where to plug the wires back in again. Take a photo before you do this..)My gripes:The blue plastic lid covering the pipework and the valve assembly just balances on top... a good nudge and the lot falls off, and could easily damage a wire. I used blu-tack to hold the edges in place: effective. But come on! Design something better please BWT.The flexible hoses it come with for the 22mm feeds in and out are long and quite awkward. They didn't suit my installation so I used brass 3/4 connectors and rigid 22mm pipes. A nice feature is they supply angled and straight connectors. The drain hose they supplied was basically normal garden hosepipe. My problem with this is that I couldn't find a waste pipe fitting it would fit onto. I bought 20mm clear pipe from Ebay which fits onto a standard 20mm appliance drain pipe connector. To connect this to the drain outlet you need a brass hosetail (Ebay) to 1/2" BSP, and I used a bit more 15mm pipe and fittings to go round a corner. 1/2" BSP onto the plastic outlet, I think. Come on BWT, you can maker easier and neater to plumb in..The overflow pipe is also annoying.. the outlet is 20mm non-pressure drain/ overflow. All the other connectors can be flexible, but not this... the connection has to be push-fit rather than solvent to allow you to move the unit, which will probably leak if the overflow is used. I couldn't find an alternative to the 20mm drain pipe so it had to do. Again, BWT could easily engineer a better plumbing solution...The only annoyance once installed is the salt reminder beeper. You can't turn the function off; it doesn't sense how much salt is actually left. It just beeps at 8am when it feels the salt is probably low.Overall a very good water softener. If you are installing DIY then expect to have a few trips to Screwfix to get the fittings right.

Transformed our very hard water
Noticeable difference straight away. Great unit, serves a large house of 3-4 easily and would be fine with more. Got my plumber to set it up as I needed some pipework doing under the sink. Still on my first set of salt 4 months later. Had made a huge difference to our hair and skin.

Good quality water softner
Installed it last week and instantly improved the water quality in our house. It was easy to install except the non-standard waste pipe which does not fit appliance waste connector.
