It's fast. It's easy to insert or remove the disk.
Brilliant. I stuck a 250GB SSD in there with movies and music on it so I can watch them wherever I go.It also works fine for file transfers etc. I stopped bothering with USB sticks a while ago and use external disks. Now that I upgraded the SSDs in my gaming machine , I had a spare 250GB Kingston SSD that I had more or less no use for. Then I thought if I got a caddy, I can take it with me on business trips and fill it with movies and music. It works fine. As for speed well it's USB3 and I was able to max out the speed of my SSD which was 400MB/sec read and write. It may do more if you have a faster SSD than mine, I don't know... but that speed is plenty for me. 400MB/sec is approximately around 4Gbits/sec (1Gbit = 112MB/sec approx) so it's approaching the bus speed of the SSD (SATA 3 ... 6Gbit)I'm really pleased with it. It's really easy to put the SSD in and no screws are required. It's light weight and fast. Very pleased.

Hard drive 2.5 enclosure that performs as it should.
Salcar® External Hard Drive Enclosure, with USB 3.0 Adapter, Ideal for Tool-Free Installation and Protection of 9.5 mm 7.5 mm 2.5 Inch SATA HDD SSD Drive EnclosureDelivered quickly. Works well as an external HDD unit. Looks well made, functional and meets my requirements.Put a 2.5 SATA drive into the unit; took about a minute; plugged in the connector usb 3 lead and then into the PC..Have now used it about a dozen times in the last couple of weeks . It has worked every-time .The data light on the top is nicely located unlike some where it is at the back of the case when in use.Wish it came with a compact storage case to protect the contents and lead safely.Apart from that minor point , nothing to complain about so far.Cannot fault the operation. I can certainly recommend this case for its intended purpose.

HD Enclosure
Arrived within scheduled timespan. Items as advertised BUT instructions, in English so small I could not read them properly even with a magnifying glass. Had to scan and blow these up. Not enough guidance on correctly fitting my old 450GB HD. Needed a torch to see pins inside enclosure for correct insertion. Eventually got it together. Wiped old HD using Ccleaner (seemed very slow for USB3), it then auto formatted. More hand holding would have been good for me, a very average PC user. So far so good. I bought two and they seem to be good value but time will tell how they perform and last. Oh yes I have had a longish communication from the German manufacturer but I am unable to make head or tail of it because its in German. Have subsequently had more communication from the nice German people who have taken on board my comments and refunded £5 of my purchase price for my inconvenience. I think that is excellent customer relations and have uprated them to 4 star from my original 3 star. I was not too inconvenienced and my remarks were me trying to be helpful..Regards DBSRegards DBS

Well made and straightforward to use.
I did not receive this item free or at a reduced price so this review is my own and based on my experience with this item.I bought this drive caddy when I changed my laptop drive to an SSD drive and I wanted to use the old drive as an external backup. The caddy is neat and looks well made. To open the drive the locking mechanism has to be switched to open using a slider on the end and then sliding the end out and down. Check that the hard drive is the right way up by examining the contacts to make sure the drive contacts match the contacts inside the caddy and slide the drive in until the contacts meet. Close the end cover and re-lock using the locking slider. I found this quite straightforward and the drive worked fine straight away.

sturdy design and was easy to install my HDD and ...
I had been looking for a USB3.0 caddy to use an external drive on my XBox One for additional game storage. Many of the USB3.0 enclosures out there are SATA-II and so this becomes the bottleneck so you'll never achieve full USB3.0 speeds. So I was looking for a SATA-III enclosure, knowing I wouldn't get the full potential, because USB3.0 then becomes the bottleneck. However, the speeds are still an increase over SATA-II, USB3.0 combination. This one fit the bill. Had the features I wanted and a decent price. It was well packaged, sturdy design and was easy to install my HDD and worked straight off.I would definitely buy another one if I need another enclosure.

Doesn't seem to like my Xbox One S.
I bought this to house a hybrid drive for my recently purchased Xbox One S 500gb with the hope of improving loading times as well as increased storage space. It worked fine when I initially hooked it up. However, when rebooting the console, external storage was not available. I had to disconnect/reconnect the USB cable for it to show up.After putting up with it for week or two I decided to try an adapter cable I bought months before to image a HDD to an SSD.Sabrent USB 3.0 to SSD / 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Adapter [Optimized For SSD, Support UASP SATA III] (EC-SSHD)With the bare drive hooked up to this cable it shows up at every boot with fail. Also, as I got the xbox, external drive and enclosure at the same time, it did not occur to me that the this enclosure was causing the controller to take ages to connect, sometimes 30 seconds or more. With the bare drive connected via the cable mentioned above the controller connects instantly. I had assumed it was an issue with the xbox itself and was considering a return. If I had bought it just to use as a portable drive I would give it five stars considering the price.
