Wonderful fat/grease separator
Just used this for the first time and was 100% satisfied. All was as advertised and easy to use. The size is perfect and the wide mouthed container made it easy to drain the juice from my roasting pan. The strainer caught all the big stuff and the drain mechanism worked like a charm. Where has this great tool been all my life? I love it!!

Great product!
I saw a fat separator like this one on a TV cooking show in which they made chicken soup in a pressure cooker. After the soup was finished, they were able to pour the broth into the fat separator and wait just a few minutes until they were able to empty the broth (without the fat!) out of the bottom. (Why didn't I invent this?!) So, I am able to make delicious soups in my electric pressure cooker and essentially finish them and serve them immediately. The bottom part seals well without leaking. I do fill the container with hot water just to heat it up before pouring in the hot soup to ensure that the container doesn't crack, although the instructions don't specify having to do this. I am so glad I purchased this. Looking forward to using it for gravies...

Its leakage spoils its serviceability, but it's better than the Umien.
This works well for separating fat and making pancakes, as long as the batter isn't super thick with lumps in it. Mine was thicker than cream and it worked fine. HOWEVER, be sure to use it with a small, flat round bowl because the plug/plunger in the hole that lets out the batter or gravy does not return into its hole very well. Consequently, if you set it on the counter you will end up with a mess under it. You could use a plate with high rims. The rate of leakage isn't too fast... you could get through a cooking session without losing a lot of batter or meat dripping/gravy. Or, you could pour that back into the gadget and let it separate again. I'm disappointed with the leakage. I'd like to pay a little more and have a contraption that works really well and is solidly made. So, why give us a veggie scraper? Most people already have a veggie scraper. We are not buying this for yet another scraper (which just takes up precious space in your drawer or be thrown away). We are buying it because it makes a lot of sense to have a gravy separator that releases nonfat fluid and flavor nuggets WITHOUT THE FAT, and also something we can use to control the pour of batter into a skillet when making pancakes. That stopper needs some work. I will keep this one for now, but I'm outta here if I find a product without the leak and with a good sturdy handle. I don't like the extra work of having to clean the dish that catches the leaking gravy or batter, but if I'm going to have to wash an extra tool, I'd rather it be a gravy pourer than a big spoon to skim off the fat from a regular glass measuring pitcher or from the pan, itself. You can never get all the fat that way -- very frustrating. At least on this you can see when you've drained out the non-fat gravy and you don't spend a lot of time spooning off the fat but never getting it all. So, manufacturers heed our advice: Fix the drain plug gadget and I'm happy to pay more. And use the money you're spending to include a free fat brush on research and product testing to make sure this thing doesn't leak. Who likes cleaning up because of a leaky utensil?

Lives up to the claims--best fat separator I've found
With a good fat separator, a short step will remove a lot of fat (and calories) from what you're cooking. Your dishes become healthier and tastier at once. But the fat separators I've used aren't simple and easy to use: they clog, they leak, they make a mess, they're hard to clean. This is the first one that has none of these problems. It's durably made. You put the liquid into the jug, let it settle for a few moments, then push the red handle to drain the defatted liquid from the bottom of the jug.The whole thing tends to get coated with fat, but it all goes into the dishwasher and comes out sparkling clean. That's important because fat separators tend to get loaded up with grease. They can be a mess to clean. The stopper to the fat outlet in the bottom is inside the jug, so the weight of the liquid tends to hold it in place until you're ready to separate, so you don't get leakage. I had another fat separator where the weight of the liquid pushed the stopper open, so it tended to leak. It's not fun to get fatty liquid leaked all over your kitchen. If not yourself! All considered, this is the best fat separator I've found. I've now used it a number of times, with considerable success every time. It's a keeper!

Finally a better designed fat separator!
I make gourmet chicken soup. I call it magical soup because I make it for my loved ones whenever they get sick and it seems to help them get better faster. Separating fat from the broth is a tedious process. This design works so much better because you are pulling out broth from the bottom of the fat separator instead of the side like the traditional fat separator. In order to get the last drop of the broth without fat, when the fat level gets low, I add some water to drain the last bit of the broth. The big size and strainer on top are very good design features. If you make chicken soup, this product is a must-have tool in your kitchen.

leaks
I purchased three of these of these separators as I wanted to use them for making broth. All three of them leak, spilling broth all over my refrigerator and floor. I used them twice, thinking that after the first fail I might have done something wrong. The second time I checked to make sure I tightened the lid and that the drain was sealed. They still leaked. i wasted $30-50 on ingredients to make the broth. That's what bothers me the most. What a waste. I probably can't return the items as I have had them for a while, but I want anyone interested in purchasing them to know that they are junk!

Does everything in one container!
We were so glad to have this for use in making gravy this Thanksgiving! It is just really thoughtfully designed, with the built in strainer and bottom pour. I poured in the drippings, and none of the herbs or orange and onion chunks got into the liquid. Wait a few minutes, then just hold it over the gravy roux and dispense as needed! Perfect size, one step, super simple to take apart, and into the dishwasher it goes.
