An excellent book!
Richard Barnes has done the estate planning profession a favor and written a book that was sorely needed. The book, which is a quick and easy read, and well written, is aimed at the layman, as it should have been. However, as one who has been around estate planning for over twenty years, I have particularly enjoyed the timeless estate planning wisdom that it imparts. For example, the section about talking things out is very well done. The book is as much an introduction to estate planning as it is about estate planning for blended families, but that is okay because the estate planning information and wisdom is very good too. I particularly enjoyed the chapter on May-December romances as well as the sample model estate plans. All in all, this is a tremendous first edition that is likely to be expanded in the future. I'm glad that I pre-ordered it.

Practical Guide
For those looking for practical guidance in decision making in this area, this is a good guide. I am a CPA so very familiar with this topic. I was looking for something more substantive. That is why I rated this a 4 and not a 5. If you are looking for more in depth coverage, technical literature would be appropriate. This is a good guide for those starting to consider estate issues.

Terrific clear, simple
Terrific clear, simple, well-grounded and helpful book, based on the premise of being fair to everyone (children from earlier marriages as well as new spouses) and expressing values and family obligations in a viable estate plan.

Thy Will Be Done!
This book was a godsend. I have read it cover to cover and dogeared the pages, taken notes, written down questions to ask our attorney and more. I was in a fog about our wills and estate. This easy-to-read and down-to-earth book is a MUST for any couple looking to plan the same if either of them have been married before, regardless of their ages.

Needs same features as paper book! Beware!
Here's an example of why ebooks get criticized: Unlike the paper book, this version contains helpful forms in the appendix that AREN'T available in a pdf format. This would be a simple fix, but apparently the editor/publisher wants you to buy both. Other ebooks I've bought have provided pdfs of forms at the end. C'mon, NOLO!
