Q: How far away can the remote be from the feeder and still communicate with each other?

I usually do it about 30ft away and have had no issues with it.

Q: Won’t turn on. brand new batteries, and tried plugging it in to the usb. this is my second one- please am i missing something?

Make sure it is plugged in and under the top by where the cylinder end fits into the slot there is a reset/on off button. You must hit that button

Q: Is there a limit to how often they get treats? Or could they just push the button over and over until it's empty?

They can push the button until the treats run out.
