Soothing and rich
(Purchased for my wife; this is her review)I have played the piano for nearly 40 years and was a church & choir accompanist and teacher for more than 5 years. Capable of advanced arrangements, when I play in my home for my own enjoyment, I seek the quiet simplicity of a few well-chosen notes that connect with my heart, rather than complex chords or active arrangements that showcase skill and stir energy. The challenge is that most intermediate-level books seem created for younger students and serve as a rung on a ladder to keep you moving upward. As such, they frequently lack the maturity and richness of an arrangement intended to satisfy a pianist who desires long-time enjoyment. This book, labeled "moderately easy" on the cover, is a breath of intermediate fresh air. Simple enough to sit down and play without practice, yet not lacking in artistic satisfaction. For some (perhaps many), it may be too simple as it encourages the pianist to be the source of expression rather than depending on the arrangement to do so.I enjoy playing all but the last three songs.Song Titles:Be Thou My VisionCome, Thou Fount of Every BlessingFor All the SaintsGive Me JesusGuide Me, O Thou Great JehovahHow Firm a FoundationLet All Things Now LivingMorning Has BrokenPeace Like a RiverWe Are Climbing Jacob's Ladder
