... tower workstation but this for general use this is amazing for all things web
Well I have a powerful proper Laptop and a tower workstation but this for general use this is amazing for all things web. The build quality is brilliant the usage of the screen has to be experienced to be believed. Add the 1TB storage and its very good value. If you use google drive a lot and gmail etc. then this makes sense in terms of use build quality and of course.if you really have to you can install crouton alongside to run linux but I find that its serves the 80 percent of tasks MORE PLEASURABLY than other laptops for watching movies web etc. etc.Battery life is not that bad if you turn down the screen brightness. For a chromebook I think it will hold value well if you ever also want to sell on compared to even normal laptops. Niche ..but desirable

Worst support in the industry.
It is a fact that Google has the worst "support" in the industry. Essentially, it's a community forum mostly run by unpaid and untrained "fanboy" volunteers who invariably refuse to put the blame on Google for anything. Their main argument is "its got to be better than Microsoft".Anyway, that's not the biggest problem... When you buy into this Pixel, it will get constant software updates that has bugs. Lots of bugs. These bugs can be as serious as the dreaded "black screen" to wifi problems, to no more Netflix, no more Youtube, or something stupid like it won't read certain files types. It gets worse! There's absolutely no way to roll back an update to one that actually works. Google updates only go forward, not backward. So, you may have to wait MONTHS for future updates that may or may not fix the problem(s).When you buy this... you are PAYING GOOGLE to let you become their Beta tester.AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

So good... I kept it!
I bought my Chromebook Pixel direct from Google, fully expecting to return it within the 15-day return period once I had taken it for a spin. But, you know what? It was so good... I kept it! Despite the hefty price tag.Having used other Chromebooks such as the "cheep and cheerful" Samsung Chromebook Wifi (Launched Oct 2012) , and being more concerned with their function rather than their form, I surprised myself by falling in love with the potentially gimmicky and indulgent features that set the Chromebook Pixel apart from other Chromebooks:1. The display really is awesome, even when simply browsing the web and noticing the sheer sharpness of the on-screen characters.2. The sound is really awesome, nice and loud despite the fact that you can't see the speakers (which are hidden under the keyboard).3. The touch screen is surprisingly useful for scrolling up and down through web pages and documents, and I seem to be able to hit the right buttons on screen with less hit-and-miss than I have experienced (for example) when operating the Microsoft Surface (32GB) web browser in desktop mode.4. I love the solid feel and square simplicity of the aluminium casing on the Chromebook Pixel. As explained in The Chrome Book (Fourth Edition): The Essential Guide to Cloud Computing with Google Chrome and the Chromebook , all Chromebooks are born equal in the sense that you should be able to do pretty much the same things on all of them. But it's so much more pleasurable to do those things on this beautiful machine. And I didn't expect to say this! Why four stars rather than five? Only the price. But I guess that if you want quality... you have to pay for it.

Blocked and constantly overheated
After few months even if all is updated and hard drive is empty it completely blocks each 2 days, it overheats really fast when it's plugged and working. Battery lasts for few hours only. Overall very disappointing.

Man I just love this netbook
This computer is just great. In my book the highlights are as follows:1) Super fast start up from any state2) Beautiful screen3) delightful keyboard and touch pad4) Smooth operation, hardly any slow down at all compared to windows operating systems5) Generally a pleasure to use - backlit keyboard is a nice luxurious and practical touch. Hot keys are sensible and I live the ability to easily switch between different language inputs by simply pressing shift and alt together. Brilliant for my language learning endeavours!6) light, sleek and compact7) High quality clear speakers, vocals sound great (Well for what you can expect from inbuilt speakers)!Drawbacks:1) it can heat up a bit on your lap especially when playing music, watching videos2) Battery life is OK but for the price, at least an equivalent to macbook in battery life would have been welcome3) Can do alot of your basic every day tasks but beware as some other more specific uses become problematic i.e. I wouldn't sell my windows laptop but keep it in reserve for anything that the netbook can't handle. e.g. if you don't have a cloud-print feature enabled printer, you can't print anything!Update: Oct 2015 and still going strong. Have had very few issues with this netbook and use it almost every day for my english teaching job, even being able to effectively connect it to a projector using an HDMi adapter I've bought

Check what version of Chrome is loaded?
Chose this Chromebook because of guaranteed next day delivery - dispatched from the depot ten minutes away at 09.00am and arrived at 17.30pm.I could have collected it quicker. When setting up the Chrome was an old version and would not load any apps so spent the next day with the hlpdesk resolving the problem and updating to the latest version. The help desk were great and called me back on several occasions until resolved! Now it's working it is a great replacement for my old laptop...
